Why do fluckwits with limited driving/thinking skills insist on trying to reverse park in supermaket carparks ?   >:( >:(
They are probably the same drivers who do not use indicators on roundabouts.
There's no need to tell other motorist know what your doing, you know where your going.

Any reason thata fuel has gone through the roof... Theres no public holidays is there? I mean fuel cycle... silly me.

$2.34 for 91....

the Apco on other side of road still has 1.75 for 91- and about 50 cars queued up on the main road..

edit:
Compared with the previous week, where prices were as low as $1.77/litre, the cost to fill-up a 50-litre tank on a Toyota Corolla has gone from $88.50 to $112.50.

For owners of the Holden Commodore – which remains one of the most popular vehicles registered in Australia – they will be handing over an additional $35 every time they fill up.

Yep, Related to my previous post.
So, the pump price of fuel fluctuates with the barrel price of crude oil, Hmm.
Yet engine oil only every goes up.
15-50 HPR Diesel, with my trade discount at Supercheap auto is $104.39 for 10lt.
5 years ago it was 60 odd bucks for 10lt.

I said the same thing about LPG to my wife yesterday. Just paid 90 quid for a 47Kg propane refill (180ish AUD).

Chips from the chippy are the same. Potato prices rise and fall. Chip prices only ever go up.

This may seem like a dumb question. Instead of raising interest rates which affect predominantly mortgagees, why don't they increase GST by say 1%. Would that not reap a bigger reward spread over a larger spectrum (businesses and corporations included) rather than hitting the people that are already suffering?

Probably =-  but then that also effects the rich who donate to political parties... and we don't want to offend them... just the peasants who cant stand up for themselves.

Because they also want to tempt people with spare money to save rather than spend. High interest rates do that.

Hiking GST or VAT increases the price of goods and services. Increasing prices drives inflation up.

It's a vicious (and unfair) circle.

But they are also the consumers who buy the product "for their business", so then just claim the GST back, so no great net loss whether 10% or 20% GST.

Where as increasing the interest rates on their $1,000,000 mortgage will hurt, and on their business loans and overdraft, just like it hurts the commoner paying the mortgage on their $500,000 mortgage.

Ha ha! My first thought was "Who's Charlie?"

I'm not really a Royal watcher so don't really know about general opinion but I don't think he will ever be as popular as his mum, or her mum. A sign of changing times. He seems to keep a fairly low profile.

I was half expecting him to abdicate and let young Billy and his wife have a go. You don't hear a bad word said about them.

Like you I'm not a Royal watcher either

But that's probably the best thing he could do
His mother dragged it out so long I think he feels he deserves a turn, for a while at least

How is it that some of the consistent, main news stories over last 6 months (or xx years) or so are all about how everyone is struggling to financially survive, food, fuel, electricty, gas, mortgages, rent sky rocketing, people living in cars, can't afford to go out for tea anymore.........and now more recently.....Quantas making a fortune, tickets overpriced, ......blah blah blah.

Then last 2 days - record number of people flying somewhere for school holidays.
???
All i can think of is the gap between the "haves" and the "have nots" is just getting larger.

And don't me started on the job market!
Our company advertising for an apprentice mechanic, a full time mechanice and a trainee admin officer.
Mid sized company in agricultural service, supply industry in Gippsland, about 2 hours from Melbourne, so not in boondocks.
Four applied for admin. One not returning phone calls. One pulled their application because they don't really know what they want to do.
Only one was a serious application.
No applicants for the apprenticeship.
Three applicants for mechanic. All from overseas wanting us to sponser their Visa's.

Maybe should of posted in the rant thread!!

Thanks, Dandy, had seen that.

We were wondering about it though as to why they labelled it a "bizarre" video of him ???

As you said, it looks like a bloke having a friendly chat to other people while out on a walk.

Pill Testing?
Why is it the Goverments responsibility to set up pill testing stations at music festivals?

I'm not certain, but I believe that pill testing is available and the music venue pays for it. But the government has to permit the testing or the testers are complicit to a crime.
As I said not certain, but believe that is how it goes.
