Can someone please explain to me, why Diesel is nearly 30c a Litre dearer than most forms of unleaded petrol ..../quote]did anyone ever figure this out... been a while now.
Diesel in Australia is now Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel which requires additional refining and then an additional process to add lubricants. The old days it was a by product of refining leaded petrol.

Piece of trivia for you. About 20 yrs or so ago I was given a fuel industry magazine which stated New York used more diesel a month than Australia used a year.Side note Australia is storing extra diesel in the USA, they'll let us have it if things go belly up won't they. I was showing that article to a fertiliser Rep, and he told me same thing with fertiliser except it was with a chinese company that was using more fertiliser than all of Australia, and farmers here wanted a good deal on their purchase. They don't even know we're here except when it comes to our mineral wealth.

& if we do need it,because something like, you know a war starts in East Asia / Northern Pacific, then there'll be absolutely no possible issues about a constant stream of super-tankers crossing the Pacific delivering fuel from the US to Oz ::)

Yup, that's what gives me the dirts about our overseas focused media (and politicians)

There is zero news about Australia when you travel overseas.

Don't think a single one of them had a gun held to their head and told to take that crap
Sorry but I don't see why people feel the need to do that stuff

Champin

As bad as that Shit from Siberia. Krokodil. It comes from mixing codine, paint thinner, hydrochloric acid, red phosphorus and petrol. Who the frig comes up with this crap. And just what state of mind or desperation would make someone want to take it? Apparently it has a similar reaction on the skin to krank.

Mate, Not Cleanup Australia,
Although our 4wd club is involved with NPWS NSW,  in the maintenance of a hostric Homestead. Cunglebung.
Our 4wd Club, The Grafton & Districts 4wd Club, ate fortunate enough to have keys to behind locked gates. We need to notify NPWS of our intention to perform these maintenance days, mostly mowing, whipper snippering, removing anything that may become a fire hazard around the dwellings/huts.
This weekend, we were given permission to camp there.
We were also given the ok to explore the area within this section of the Locked area.
Not far from the Homestead we came across another set of stock yards, an awesome water hole for a swim and a great little camp ground.
Unfortunately the key we have, wouldn't allow us to exist closer to Cunglebung Rd, we'll be contacting NPWS to acquire access through this gate.

our club used to do similar, but the hut was close to the road, and bogans used to get in and smash it up, even winched it off its foundations once... tyre marks on tables etc.. .we spent 2 weeks fixing it, and it got ruined on the Monday after, so we gave up.

Saw this one his morning: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/orcamp007/acl-camp-stove-powerful-ultra-lightweight-portable-stove

The idea of the stove sounds OK (although I'm not sure that it would be any safer ???), but it raises an obvious question: Why aren't you doing the same thing to the vehicle fuel ???

Judging by the colour of the flame, it looks like it runs a bit rich. Normal alcohol stoves burn with an almost invisible blue flame.

Not sure if I'd be happy with a glass bottle of ethanol floating around in the camper. Looks a bit bulky too. I think I'll stick with my jetboil.

Champin

Because according to the Americans we don't have a nuclear industry or infrastructure in Australia. That was the reason up to now why America was reluctant to provide us with the subs. The open pool light water reactor at Lucas Hieghts (which is still operating today) apparently doesn't count as an industry. As a sweetener to the deal though, we do get to store all their nuclear waste. Is that the deal of the century or what?
