Reno is progressing.
Today I did a couple of feature pillars in sandstone before everything gets a texture coat

Looking good. Whats the go with the garage floor...is it my eyes or is there no slab down in there?

Cheers Nomad

GanG

Fitted some pro rack roof bars to the Ranger and mounted up the awning. A little mucking about, but happy with the result.

Yeah they're not bad. I'm more a screaming jets kinda guy for my OZ rock.😂
All jokes aside, sometimes if you have a nut or filter or lid etc that is too tight to undo, try tightening it first. You only need the slightest movement and it can sometimes be enough to crack the thread and mean you can then loosen it.

Already got our tickets to see the Jets and Baby Animals gig that's coming up, just a shame my number 98 (as in 1998) Jets t-shirt I got back at a gig at the Calamvale Hotel has to many holes in to wear and seems to have shrunk a few sizes also (that's my story i'm sticking to...lol). One of the best old school live act pub bands you'll see, been to see them a few times and never disappointed.

I get some shelves today to organise everything outside (at last... 4 months after moving in)...

Other news:
-False floor is stalled at the moment, but resume shortly - I'm going down the t-nut route for the fasteners, I just need to organise getting them now...
-I hate motorbikes... the flywheel has been attacked by a monkey in the past, who has managed to a) shear one bolt head off and b) round another one off... Got a set of ezy outs (why are they called that, there's no such thing...) so will have a crack at it again at somepoint soon. I got fed up the last time I tried, so I stopped before I got too cross with it. Any one have magic tips for using a set of ezy outs?

Yes, drill out to the biggest size you can first up. Much harder than getting a sheared off bolt out, is getting a sheared off eazy-out out so you can try again.

A mate of mine sheared one off in an oil pressure sender in the side of his engine block once (may have been an old nissan sedan..??). Apparently it was common for that make and model at the time, (back in the 80's) to shear them when removing. He was quoted well over a grand to remove the engine then remove the rest of the sender, and fit a new one. I ended up excavating around the eazy-out with a dentist drill, just enough to get a grip with a small pair of multigrips, and twist it back to loosen it. All done in situ with an 90deg angle air drill.

Actually I like the Snapon style straight ones best, with the separate nut that slides over it.
4.2L TD Toyota Troopy, (Clarke's Country Camper Trailer, softfloor.) sold it and bought a Avan Ray small poptop caravan.

That's been my plan - I was hoping that the biggest would get enough purchase in the rounded allen head, but it didn't so I ended up removing the end of it inadvertedly. After that I drilled down with the smallest one, and using that as a pilot hole the next size up... I'll continue to drill to that larger size and try that instead of the smallest one.

Thanks for the pointers; those snap on ones look a lot eaiser to use than the ones I have...

Just watch you don't go too big so that the ezi-out bottoms out before it bights properly. Yeah, the straight spline ones are good, but you have to drill the exact sized hole for them. And you can still break them off, which is why I have a couple of short ones now...  ;D But I've had them for over 30 years, and they've had a good work out.
