Has anybody had any experience with magnetic phone mounts like these: https://shopping.scoopon.com.au/event/new-tech-accessories-63202/product/naztech-magbuddy-air-vent-mount-410214/?st=1&sid=63202 ???

Idea sounds OK but I'm not too sure about fastening a super-magnet to the back of my phone, which is after all, a mini computer ???

I can vouch for magnetic mounts. Not sure about that one. I use these

Best thing I've done. No more stuffing around when you get in car..pretty much just "chuck" the phone in that direction and it sticks.

Hi,
I would be concerned if you use the compass function on your phone.
Cheers

I reckon for $14 you'll get what you pay for.

I use several different brands varying in price from $10 to $60
They all grip well, the amount of metal stuck to the back of your phone, is how stuck they are, bigger equals better when 4wdriving

What is it about it being a mini computer that makes you hesitate?

I use the same in the Prado, they're ace! More than happy with it and the phone hasn't fallen off.

I always thought / was under the impression, that you had to keep magnets, especially powerful ones, away from computers as the magnetic field could do bad things to hard drives / memory etc ???

Modern systems are not really all that badly effected as they do not use magnetic media.  It was the old magnetic media that was the biggest issue.

If the electromagnetic pulse is big enough (think nuclear weapons) it will fry the silicon chips, but domestic style magnets shouldn't cause any issues.

Studio Proper is my choice. The system is so good I can't swap phones.
