I had an LJ Torana with a 4 speed opel on the floor [car originally came a 3 speed column shift] many years ago.
I'll see if I can dig out a pic or two.

Likewise, had a HK sedan which I put an opel 4 speed in. Bastardised a speco 3 speed floor shift to fit as the linkages were similar. Only no reverse. Had to jump out and slide the rod across to select reverse. Even bastardised a GTS center console to suit the bench seat.........
Eventually got a new speco floor shift for it ............circa 1982...........what I would give to have that pair of shifters and unmodified console today!

Have you tried Kustom Bitz, now in Croyden VIC used to be up in blacktown area years ago. Had a HJ 1 tonner with similar set up. cheers Ron.

I had a MK 2 Zephyr back in 1982, that had a Humber Hark 4 speed up behind a modified Zephyr six.

The turd would jump out of top gear, so I made a little shorty occy strap that went from the seat adjuster.
You'd pull 4th and slip the strap over the shifter and it was fine.

One day on a downshift, I forgot to unhook the strap first, shoved the lever into third like it was a race car
That pulled the strap tight until it released the seat adjuster, just as I took my hand off the shifter, it slammed back into 4th.
By then, as I recall, the clutch was back out, so we ended up getting the odd sharp edge off the 4th gear syncho.
The seat took off one way, somebody took off the other way.... It might have been me.

Never ever, did again though.

You picked well with the FJ, they are stupid $ for an original/neat car. The Suby doesn't have much of a following so they're relatively cheap.

The slow mo is a great reminder how violent nitro cars are.

Funny cars have always been my favorite, but it's lost me in the 10 years.  Slab sided wedges with a bubble top and they just keep getting worse and worse.

Time to take looks over ET. Take some power out of them and make the bodies more like the lates 70's early 80's.  Still road like, but a little "funny".
No one would probably care if they were a second slower, if the visual appeal was better.

This would be a nice unit to bring in..... wish I was about a year down the track with this car selling gig.

You have this bought, sent and it ya driveway for around $30,000 in Aussie dollars.
A lot of car for that..... factory air conditioned car too.
Air cond was a bit slow to catch on until the sixties..... not rare, but not too many with it though either.
