Jeepers Creepers

Based on what I can see, I would expect 20 to 25 would pull it up or more if its better than the pics show.

A friend has a VERY NICE HR, X2 white Premier sedan with the factory 4 speed opel box still in it for sale at $33.000 on Gumtree.

Any 186S or X2 is highly sort and the 4 speed opel are really rare now.

Nice. Iv'e had a 76 Clubman, 68 Mini Deluxe(Big Motor, cam, twin carbs etc) and a 74 Moke.  I'm also currently have a look around for another Mini/Moke as a toy. I'm leaning towards the moke at this stage. My thinking is it might be a cooler(temperature wise) to cruise in compared to a Mini. Get awfully warm and sticky here. Plus, I don't think you can beat "Smiles per Mile" with a nice looking Moke.
Good Luck with the resto.
Cheers, Mike.

You'll end up with the Rimmer Bros Catalogue and a good relationship with the post office/parcel companies...

Although, I think that parts are getting easier to source here,  there's still a lot that are easiest broguht in from the UK at times.

They are pulling pretty good money at the moment. Will they continue to climb in price? Who knows. I'm up to my 26th car and my Moke would be one of my favourites. Just need to commit to spending the 20k. We are planning on selling up and buying acerage and buying a toy doesn't quite fit in the financial plan. But life is short so we'll see.
Cheers, Mike.

I sold a brand new white hood lining for one of those in Sept. for $45.00. (might not have fitted a clubman.... not sure)

It was left over from the 67 Deluxe we made over and sold.

Wow 4 speed ! Never knew they fitted them. Where they a floor shifter or column jeepers? Drove a Peugeot with a 4 or 5 speed column shift a few times, surprisingly easy to adapt to .

I was under the impression the 4 speed only came out with the 186S ?? Not the X2.

My understanding is they came with both.

Holden has had lots of odd specials pop up over the years that with the internet, have become documented as fact these days.

I did a quick google thingy and here are some replies. on the subject.

1.
I have a HR X2 factory opel 4 speed, Yes it has been on many hoists to confirm factory 4 speed, so many people say they don't exist, only came out in 186s hr not x2,,,,well they are only repeating what they have been told, they are WRONG, i bought car from owner who bought it new in 1966 off the show room floor when he was 25,i am Holden mechanic for past 45years,yes i have seen 186s 4 speeds, mine is build no;267s,first 2 weeks of production, its the only x2 4 speed i have seen, everything i read says it doesn't exist, any positive info would be highly regarded, anybody stating they don't exist, please put money were mouth is as i would happily put up $5000 for a bet, regards Nev.

2.
"The opel gear box was available about 4 weeks prior to the 186S option. So you could get a HR X2 Opel four speed factory car."

3.
X2 HRs with Opel 4-speeds are known to exist, I've verified a few myself. As mentioned above, the 4-sp box appeared on the production line a few weeks before the 186S, so a few X2s got thru with 4-sp fitted. The few I have identified have all been in the narrow engine number prefix band just prior to 186K162701 (the first production 186S engine no.) This all occurred in July 1967.

I had an LJ Torana with a 4 speed opel on the floor [car originally came a 3 speed column shift] many years ago.
I'll see if I can dig out a pic or two.
