This is just plain out sad....

In May 1998, in the pink 34 coupe, I was runner up in the state of origin wild bunch meeting to John Payne in the corvette.
We ran consistent 7.6's all day too.

That's 20 friggin years ago this month and 20 years ago this coming October since the Handbrake and I got married on the start line at Willowbank.

One of the announcers yesterday took one look at me as I walked into the tower and said.... "I know you, ya big C***.... how ya been."
It was pretty cool being back there again.
The next question he asked, was if i'd bought the Datsun 1200 back, as it sold just a couple of months ago.

Shit, we had some fat times racing over all those years.

Who could forget "big Pete Smith" in the poor old Valiant. Low mileage car, converted to blown V6 power. How this thing never flipped itself inside out is a mystery.

They threw it over on its guts to get him out.

Also saw another racer go off the end of the Surfers Raceway strip and through the perimeter fence and almost took out a timber shed .
Cant remember the type of car though . Got a feeling it was a T bucket type ..
This has some very interesting Altereds in it too .. The blue Chevy with the rear wheels moved forwards is a Hoot

Back in the early 90's an alcohol funny car racer decided to do a run without chutes fitted. Track escapes me?
Straight through the gravel trap and into the catch fence.  The catch fence jambed the butterflies open and it carried on at full throttle through a paddock, before a tree stump stopped it.

I've got a VHS tape of it somewhere.

The Brother  struggled to get $29 K and though he did Ok to get those $$  for his mint original log booked HR X2 Prem 5 years ago ..
