Jeepers Creepers

We took the Fleetwood yesterday for a traditional Sunday Drive.

Left TCB, through Gympie and then the Bruce to Brisbane. Over the Gateway and out to the BP truck stop at Larapinta.
Stuff me sideways, fuel was 152.9 a litre....  :'(

Met up with some members of the Cadillac Club and then headed out west a little.
We pulled up for lunch in downtown Fernvale.
We had 7 Cadillac's in total, but the highlight was an unrestored 1927 Cadillac LaSalle. What a car.

Originally sold to the Walker Family of Maryborough at Royal Show (Ekka) in Bris in 1927, it was a 21st birthday gift for their daughter.
(Yes, the Walker had money)
In 2017, Walkers Limited was inducted into the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame. Walkers Limited is regarded as being one of Queensland's greatest companies spanning 150 years in the engineering manufacturing sector.

Now, back to the car....
Not a perfect 100 point car, and it has had a paint job during its live, but in really good condition and a stunning grand old car.
303 cubic inch/90 degree V8 and it was a torque monster too.
Cable brakes.

After lunch, the others all headed for Brisbane again while we went via Wivenhoe Dam, Esk, Kilcoy, Beerwah, and then the highway home.

In total, a 622 KLM run and I tell ya, damn comfortable too.

I'll whack some pics up later.

Oh, and some knob jockey P plater in a WRX Scooby Doo was picking a race with me on the way home too...  ::) I declined .  :police:
Plus, I would've lost, no fun in that.

and a couple more.....including Mrs Jeepers trying to do a deal on the 27 as a straight swap for the Jeep.

Leon backed out of the deal when we let slip it was a Jeep. :-[

In the road tests on both cars, they seem to be bouncing around a fair bit.
I'm assuming they've got for a fairly tight suspension.

I'd say combined with that and big springy sofa seats yep ..  Decent progressive rate springs to get a better ride or go with an  active type suspension . They are dropping serious coin on these builds anyway ..
Go to bigger roll bars to  control the roll, Got the GO n  Whoa and point n shoot bits good ..
Just went with big is best for straight line and forgot about the twisty stuff, typical Yanky tuner thinking . ;D

I run a Cars n Coffee thing up here on the second Sunday of every month. (Today was our second one)  :cup:

We had 22 cars last month and 16 today, which was pretty good with Bathurst being on.
This one fronted up today...... Bird will like this.

From a mate off stalkerbook.. and to think we paddock bashed these old cars and then burnt em out as kids :'(

QuoteRedbook says it's worth $17,100 - $22,900, so I'll put $20,000 as a guide.

I am helping a friend sell his car, he drove it into a shed 20 odd years ago and there it has sat, until we pulled it out a couple of weekends ago.

I have taken the photos to be as honest as possible, it has 20 years worth of dust and some wasp nests on it

Engine runs, needs a thermostat housing (leaking)
Brakes and clutch go to floor, probably just need reconditioned master and slave cylinders
Tyres stay up, starts easily.
It's manual
Front floors have been covered over with steel sheet
Front seat upholstery is good
Spare gearbox and a couple of extra wheels

I think you could have this registered and running for under $1000

He still has the registration papers, should be walk in rego.

Cheers, Aaron.

Second big collection to go up in flames in few months.

Fire raced through a large garage in Langley on Wednesday, destroying a multimillion-dollar collection of vintage cars, some of which are shown in a recent handout photo. Garry Cassidy spent decades collecting and only in the last year put his collection of 40 vehicles in the new garage. Alyn Edwards / Canadian Press

LANGLEY — A multi-million-dollar collection of vehicles was destroyed Wednesday when fire raced through a building in Langley.

Alyn Edwards, columnist who writes about classic cars and a good friend of the owners Garry and Darlene Cassidy, says they are devastated by their loss.

Edwards says the Cassidys are on their way back home from the United States after learning of the fire.

He says Garry Cassidy was in tears when he spoke with him on the phone over the loss of about 40 classic cars, most of them Chevys from the 1950s and 1960s.

The vehicles were insured, but Edwards says Garry Cassidy told him that many of the vehicles can't be replaced.

Langley Township deputy fire Chief Bruce Ferguson says an alarm system alerted them to a fire early Wednesday, but by the time they arrived the flames were shooting out the roof of the two-storey building.

He says the cause of the fire in the approximately 740-square-metre building hasn't been determined.

I would really love to give this thing a new home in Australia. Its very plain to look at, but something about it has me by the short and curlys.
