Cool story - Bloke makes dwarf-sized working replica cars out of old fridges.

Goes to show the yanks USED to know how to build a decent car !!
I was watching the doco (not the movie) about the Ford and Ferrari thing.
You could see the excitement in the Americans faces when in 1965 they figured out how to make a car that could turn corners.... ;D

Nicely done early series RT40 Corona .. We had a few of the update versions at the wreckers, back in the day. Complete running  minor dents  damage cars with bugger all rust and no one wanted to touch them ..
Enthusiests would practicaly kill for cars in that condition  these days ..

Awesome event I finally got the hambster to for its first run. Ran like a bag of Shit and need to run through a few things but good to finally get a few runs under the belt. All part of the learning process.

Went in and watched the video. Enjoyed the drags (sounds like mardi gras doesn't it) ;D.
Reason for the post through is to ask the enthusiasts what the idea of the 10" lift on the front is all about. There were a number of vehicles with this configuration??
We've waited 45 years to do this. Now our life will be complete!!

You are referring to the "gasser" style cars. Suspension technology was pretty crude back in those days so the whole idea was to aid in weight transfer to the rear tyres to get the things to hook up

To add to that, a gasser front end is lighter than a normal front end as well.

The less weight the better.

So in another post "the rant"I mentioned that we are preparing to sell mums house as part of her estate. One little hurdle was that my brother who also past away around 2 years ago had a collection of F trucks in the garage and driveway.
So have just sold 2 of the f trucks.

The black one looks huge!!!

It is a 4x4 model with a bit of a lift under it and plenty of air between the ground and chassis, 351 with an auto box. Deep Blue colour

Jeepers Creepers

My old XA from back in the 80's. (302 T-bar Fairmont)

My mates cars, Graham's XA wagon, from back in 1982. (with my centerlines on the front) 351 and 4 speed top loader.

Adrian's XC. (351 auto)

Doug's Premier. (350 chev and auto that went 12:90 in around 86 or thereabouts)

On todays money, you'd have to pull 40 or 50k each.
Back then, maybe.... i dunno, maybe $20,000 combined.

Funny side story to the green XA.
We took it down with the stock 250 and auto just before the swap over.

It ran a blistering 19 something down the quarter mile.
Graham got a right chewing out, so to speak, for eating a sandwich during the run.
Was piss funny too......
At one point, somebody, some smart prick, yelled out, he's eaten the evidence.
Can't recall who the smart arse was.

Fun times...... so, long ago,..... i feel quite old right now.

The brougham had a slightly longer rear and usually a vinyl roof which accentuates the hip bulge.... the Marilyn Monroe affect you can't help but notice as they go by.
