Hey... hold the phone.. your nissan is not just a *NISSAN*!!! ITs what Nissan should have brought out in the first place. Think of where we'd be now if they had!!!!

Just a mild small block Chev..... nothing too fancy, the 34 was a driver and John's play car.

Stomper has been involved with the drags since the 60's.... but has never made a pass down the track in anger.

Col Dunn (one half of the Superformance 55 door slammer) waaaaay back, took stomper out the back straight at Surfers in his T bucket.
Frightened the Shit out of stomper..... never wanted to race from that day forth.

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

love stories about people like that.. there were 4-5 like that in bike racing circles when I was involved... they didnt have bikes themselves, but used to run meetings, scrutineering, entries you name it.. usually they never get the credit they deserve either being in the background.

Luckily, Stomper did get the recognition he was due...... great guy to be on the right side of.....not so great if you pissed him off.

When we got married on the start line in 98.... Astrid was driven up the staging lanes in Stomper's Ford LTD.
I only ever had good things to say about him.... same as Dennis Syrmis.... another who went a tad early.

Stomper always had a joke to tell.... some rippers too.
We used his travel agency to book any trips we took..... Travelaire Tours.

We had one of those as a school mini-bus when I was a lad. On steep hills we had to get out and walk.

rags

NZMarkb

That's ridiculous
They were the worst van made in the western world
If your not prepaired to stand behind our troops
Then feel free to stand in front of them

DandyD

I've got a road test of a camper conversion somewhere. It was an auto. They sang its praises but I can't help feeling they were deluded, even by 1960s standards.

NZMarkb

Yeah, we had one as a school van when I first started high school
What a POS

They were a shocker, you wouldn't own one to win a bet.
However, these days, these things are considered pretty cool.

If you slipped an old XA/XB style 250 and a C4 in one, it would be a decent thing to drive... sort of.

Would still trip over itself on a round-a-bout.
