A daunting task Mark. Wouldn't want to get it too wrong.
I suppose help from the GM, and orders from previous years, will give you a good guide.

I'm sure you'll get it right  :cup: :cup:

I'd have no clue.... ::)

Trouble is we have no idea what they ran short on last year as the previous managers never kept any notes.

So we will work on the last 3 months since we have been here factoring in it will be summer and other out stations will be buying from us.

Lucky we are allowed to drink here

As the Purchasing Manager on Dunk Island for 9 months (yeah tough job but somebody had to do it  ;D) my biggest issue was expiry dates, particularly on the diet soft drink cans.  Gees they make a mess when they go off!!!

Good luck mate, you will work it out just fine.

Send out a request for info to each of the Station operators, see if they can help.
Get a rough estimate from them of their needs maybe.
You can't pull stuff out of thin air, or somewhere else for that matter.

Yes we have to factor in the expiry dates and room to stock everything. We have 2 x 20 ft freezers (shipping containers) and one of them will be stocking 400 ctns of frozen bread. The other one will be for the meat etc.

Regarding coke etc we will carry at least 9 pallets just of 1.25 ltr coke let alone the other coke products. We have just on  500 lines we need to cover for the wet season.

Hey Mark, shouldn't the locals be able to help you with what they wanted but the store had run out of? Maybe stick a big sign up in the store asking everyone for input?

At least you'll have grog to fall back on - I'll assume you'll have enough of that!  ;D

The learning curve just gets better. Apart from planning what stock we need for 5 months, we have a store compliance being done tomorrow plus we have just found out that there is a ceramony being done monday week which will go for a week and is a circumcision for about 10 young boys. The poulation will triple and everyone will be camping out in a park next to the store.

We have to now work out stock we will need for that week as well have our 5 month order prediction done by friday week.

My crystal ball is working overtime so is the consumption of my alcohol medication.

This ceremony only happens evety 3 years apparently. To add more pressure our cook is on holidays the week of the ceremony.

No pressure. All part of the learning curve. Someone pass me another drink.

Boiled spuds and  corn on the cobb in cut down 44's over the fire and a basic BBQ range of meats, a couple of dozen stacks of bread trays,  enlist a couple of local helpers and away you go ..   Sounds too easy doesn't it ..
Better you than me Gungadin . ;D
