We head off on Friday from Alice. Next stop unsure at the moment but expect to be in Mataranka by Sat pm for 2 nights.

If you get the chance, check out Cutta Cutta thermal caves just south of Mataranka. Well worth the stop.

Also Mark - a quick trip off the Stuart Highway just before Mataranka do a quick trip out to the Elsey Cemetery ("We of the Never Never" fame. It is well looked after.

Well we have settled in at Mt Barnett Roadhouse. The camper is set up at the rear of the roadhouse.

Only a week ago a couple hit a bull and wrote of his car.





As mentioned we have received some heavy rain here and across the Kimberley.  We have people camping at the roadhouse as the roads are closed and the rivers are flowing and deep. Its like a caravan park here. Hopefully the rain will ease and the roads will open soon.

A couple rolled their car not far from us today due to the road conditions. The track to manning gorge is closed and we have a large number of people stuck down there. Its a real mess and will take a week to dry out and get graded. There is a tour bus stuck down there also. We have tomorrow off and will go for a drive and check the conditions with pics.

Update:

The roads are still closed.

The guys from the cattle station are using a tractor to assist people across the Barnett River who are stuck there.





We went for a drive to Galvins Gorge this morning and great to see water coming over the falls.





The main road is slippery and muddy with a number of people heading back to Derby.



We are still receiving some very light rain.

We arrived at Katherine this afternoon. Relaxing with a few beers and looking forward to our second interview Monday for a job we would love to get. Also waiting for anothet job offer after a phone interview yesterday.

2 remote places and full time work. Both jobs are in the NT.

Mark......... please don't randomly throw in pics like this....... I'm at work on nightshift, prior to coming to work I grabbed a part stale bread roll with peanut butter on it from the mess....... A most glorious meal.

We have had an issue with the cruiser being a leaking power steering box. Being a public holiday in Katherine Monday we have the car booked in on Tuesday morning. Pretty sure the part will have to be freighted overnight from Darwin.

Rather it happen here than in a remote place.

My 105 did that too cost about $440 for a swap over oem box . You cant but the part new but tney are oem spec.

Was cheaper and easier just to change the whole box ..it's easily accessible

From memory there used to be  a fairly good Toyota dealer parts place in Katherine, but then again that was a lifetime ago .

We are currently relaxing in Katherine at a rustic caravan park. It is a large cattle property that allows camping with pets. We decided to book into a motel room here for the next few nights until we have our next job lined up.

Will be catching up with an old myswag member tomorrow. A really old member.

Our interview went well and we have been employed as managers of a remote store at Peppimenarti in the NT. Its 100 klms west of Daly River.

We arrive there this Friday after a night at Daly River. Plenty of barra around the rivers of Peppimenarti also.
