Well fingers crossed, we applied for a couples position at Mt Barnett Roadhouse on the Gibb River Rd and await the outcome. Spoke to the manager today and we feel confident but you never know. We find out around the 7th Jan if we are successful. The job is for the season May to Sept /Oct 2016. We will be living in the camper but will have free power, wi fi and rent apart from fuel and food.

If we do get the position we will leave here around early April and spend some time doing a recon for the 2018 Kimberley Trip.

We bought a painting off a local artist. He had done one for a another person and we liked his work.

I know this was a ridiculously long time ago, but I'm just catching up :).

This painting looks spectacular. How nicely does it capture that country!!!  Amazing colors!

Don't suppose you remember the name of the artist and where you could get any of their paintings, other than going there of course (which I may do this year anyway).

Love it

The artist is Clnton Yates. He came into the store with this painting which we bought. He was from Jameson. Have not seen him for ages. We bought another one that we gave to Geoff's wife Kay at our wedding as well as a few paintings to JK and Symon. The painting pictured was given to my parents at our recent wedding. There some great artists out here. It's always cheaper buying directly off the artists than at the gallery's such as Uluru.

Well the time has come to start the fun of packing. Only 10 more sleeps (Sat March19th) till we start our 4 week journey north to Mt Barnett Roadhouse in the Kimberley.

We decided to take the storage unit out of the camper as it took up too much room and we have got rid of gear that we don't need and never used. This gave me more room to fit extra things in such as our large clothes bags.

The large case at the front of the camper has all our electrical cooking gear in plus kitchen utensils and storage containers.

The rear side compartment on the camper carries motor oil, chainsaw oil and generator oil plus other fluids for the car.

I did a test run packing the roof rack as it will go on the cruiser the morning of our departure.

Interesting this will be only my second 4 week holiday since starting work at 16.

Currently we are relaxing at Alice Springs for a few days  topping up on some gear and drinking. Since driving from Warburton to Uluru and to Alice we have had no major problems.

The only minor issues have been one airbag on the passenger side would not inflate but getting it looked it was only the valve and all fixed. The other minor issue was getting a small tear in one tyre. It was nothing major and thanks to BD for his advice we decided to get 4 new tyres for the car and use the other 3 tyres for the camper. Got a great deal on the goodyear wrangler duratrac, buy 3 and get 4. Plus also getting a wheel alignment for the car which it needs.Apart from that all going well and the beer is flowing in the camp.

We head further north on Friday and see where we get for an overnighter.

Nice One Mark a good decision made. Doesn't feel too bad handing out the folding when you know the other 3 tyres will be in good use. 3 for 4 deals going on everywhere at the moment, good time to buy.
As long as the beer is flowing life is good, like the doctor always says to me it's important to keep the fluids up  ;D
