We were camping on the Sunshine Coast and 'decided' to come home yesterday. Might have been a wise decision.

Rain has ramped up here, now just cracked the 70mm mark (added 20mm in about 15 minutes). Wind was blowing strong just before also, but it's fire down again.

At 8.30AM we had 14 mm on the ground , then it rained all day till it got dark .Then it rained in the dark to maintain the moisture levels . This morning it rained sideways for a change ,Though its stopped now the ground is soft enough to bog a Black Duck .

All you folks whinging about the rain should spare a thought for you country cousins who are still doing it tough.  Ground dry, pastures dead, dams empty.  Only had 23mm total out of this weather event.  We are grateful but would have liked a lot more.  Just remember, whatever goes on your table, doesn't come from the cities.

Wild weather and heavy rainfalls that slammed Queensland and NSW is heading for Victoria bringing warnings of flood, wind and heavy rain.

The heavy rains in the north, saw the Sydney versus Gold Coast game reduced to a sloshy affair. Across NSW there were 3000 calls for emergency services on Saturday as the weather damaged homes and property. Rivers have flooded and much of Sydney's light show, Vivid was turned off.

The highest falls in NSW were recorded at Ballina Airport (217 millimetres), and at Coolangatta (280mm) in Queensland.

Those heavy rains are descending onto Victoria where they will buffet far East Gippsland.
