Working on a bench seat as a prototype for the Pop up Pallet event in July. The cable reel I found was broken & I don't think it is worthy of going to auction so hunting around for a better reel.

Installed a flue on our wood burning fireplace. The fireplace has been exhausting directly up the old chimney, which we have been advised is a recipe for disaster. After much work by the good lady wife and myself, we finally completed a prick of a job, saving a quoted $2k on a professional installation. It was a prick of a job due to the exhaust outlet on the fireplace being off centre front to back, requiring an offset flue directly out of the top. This required brickwork to be chipped out, as well as half the width of the lintel supporting the chimney opening.

Our winters, which is when the fireplace is lit, are on average, similar to Katoomba in NSW. We quite often register -5 with ice falling off the roof gutter in the mornings. Not your cliche weather for QLD, but we like it😁

Firstly, good job, I imagine it would of been a bugger. Hopefully the draw on that flue won't be too long, but the offset on the bottom maybe beneficial in stopping any excessive draw.

Now I get that it can get cold on the Central Highlands of Qld and understand that. But let me say that I lived in the Blue Mts at around 700 metres for thirty years and worked from Katoomba for some 15 years, now if we got in August a daytime average high of around 20 °C and a recorded low of 15°C during the day we would believe that global warming was happening quickly. I get the Nonango low overnighted temps can drop to sub-zero but we haven't factored in the wind that you can't get warm in, the sleet, the snow and rain oh and the fog day and night. I think the expression is "it feels like"  it's bloody cold.

If you think Nanango is cold you really need to experience Katoomba cold, say for example while building houses were you pour concrete on one day and come back the next after it starts to dry out to do the trowel finish, where the tiler needs warm water instead of tap cold water, paint that won't dry, too wet, windy to put roofs on. Ah I could go on but hey I'm just glad you didn't compare Nanago to Lithgow where you get all of the above plus about only 1 hr of sunshine stuck down in the valley.

Although I miss life in the mountains I don't really miss the cold.

My grand parents lived on Lurline St, Katoomba, about 800m from Echo Point so I know what the weather can be like up there.🥶 My point re the weather in Nanango is that the fire is a comfort when we need it, during the evening / night / early morning, and that not all of QLD is a tropical paradise🙂. Even the last place we lived in the Lockyer Valley, we had negative winter temperatures and riding a motorcycle to work at 6:00am definitely drops -3 ambient down to -8 or lower on the feels like scale.😨. Wasn't unusual to arrive at work with numb fingers, even with winter gloves and heated hand grips.??

Portable mobillity scooter for her arrived    ..
Seat is removable and mounts via 25mm shs into 30mm shs tube..  Sooo a short length of 25mm shs offcut fits a tow ball shank  nicely and Bobs your your gender neutral auntie,  one mobillity scooter trailer mover for the use of . Im hoping.

Yeah has a good range of applications, wide temp range.
I wanted it for speeding up Plaster/Gyprock patching(smallish patches, time consuming) & drying shower recesses before applying new Bath/Kitchen silicone & similar applications.
A bonus the head for heat shrink.

Mrs comes into the shed with her laptop... some of the keys don't work... 

OK, I'll have a look at it.. Oh, and how long since you've done a backup?

I haven't done one, because you were going to show me how... (6 year old laptop with win7)

Ok well we'll do that before I bother pulling it apart... Hmm transferring on Wifi 25Kbps... farrrrk..
OK, we'll use a LAN cable, hmmmm can't get LAN cable connectivity.... 

Tried everything I know, but no good with LAN cable.. yet no problems with any of my other computers Linux, Win7, Win10. all can connect by ethernet, or wifi. with my old linux getting at least 5Mbps on wifi.

Bugger, external power is very intermittent and battery is showing that it has a problem X out on battery icon...
Tried 3 other power adaptors with slightly different connectors, and got one that seems to be better.. but still intermittent..
Turned down everything that uses power, so in extreme power saving mode, and seems to be staying stable with power light on now..

Moved the laptop into the router room so better wifi signal, and now can get a staggering 400Kbps.... geez.. only 10 hours to transfer her pictures to the NAS..

All this without being able to type words to search, or naming folders etc... pain in the butt..
