They've come up beautifully. Restoration is often more painstaking than a new build.

You will appreciate the work that would have gone into this.

Too good for me, that was pretty special. I've always admired those who can carve.

I had the same tune up machine here, which I now have dumped.  I think I still have the book work and some of the cables and tuning light though.
If they are any good to you you can have them.

Sounds like a plan.... might be able to swag mail perhaps, once this Covid thing is done and dusted.

Decided to have a day off from digging out the swimming pool On Saturday.
Doing it by hand is good exercise I think and way cheaper than hiring a digger and rooting the pool surface.

Besides, It means on my day off, I can relax..... kick back and do nothing.

Was a bit bored by 8am, so wandered into the shed.

Hmmm, Dougies big ol Tank Fairlane needs some loving and a bit of sugar.

Hand cut, the paint on the roof.
Came up ok too ..... hmmm, there's a big ol power buffer in the cupboard.
Went nuts on the roof and even though the paint is very tired..... she was shining.
Doing the very last bit, I thought..... that buff is running just a tad fast.
YEP, fukkin burnt a very tiny spot of paint on the roof.  :-[ :-[ BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER.

I then hand cut it again to the point, you can barely see it. (but I can)
Sent a pic of it to the owner.... he's fine with it..... in fact, didn't give a Shit.
He was thrilled with the shine.  :cup:

Fixed the big steel sunvisor brackets where they mount on the roof, as they were way short of being good.
Lubed the boot and bonnet catches.
Set the float levels on the carb.
Found the reason the throttle didn't always go back to a proper idle.
The return spring (only one) wasn't really enough.
Pissed around, found a spring that would be perfect.
Ran the first spring up the inside of the second spring.
At first glance, it looks like it still only has one spring, it works and is much safer now.
The throttle is still nice and light too.

The boot lid has/had a fair bit of surface rust getting a hold.
That's now gone and ready for a hand cut n polish.
Not sure if I want to use the buff on here, but if I do, it will be a bit slower.

Might bung the ol tub up on some stands today.
It feels like the R/R brake shoes are dragging a tad.

The bloody thing is so low, it will make it easier to polish being up in the air too.

Spent a few hours with number 1 son making a 4 bike rack from some old pine I was originally going to chop up for the fire pit...

Garage is still a mess due to having far too much crap in it, but the bikes that get regularly ridden are easier to get out now

Installed my Renogy battery monitor in the caravan. Unplugged the solar and left it overnight to see there was any voltage drop on the battery (as it is getting on in years and was one of the reasons I wanted the monitor). Only dropped 0.2 of a volt during the night and that could have been because the solar had it inflated beforehand. Didn't release some of the magic smoke that one of our members on here did either
We've swapped from the camper to a van yay! :)

A couple of pics of the progress so far.

Doing the best I can with a 30 year old paint job.

Up in the air now for some underbody loving.

Looking at the last 2 pics, these days, i wonder how many folks realise that the taillights were meant to represent rocket thrusters.
Think of the Ford Thunderbirds of the same era.... most likely lost on folks these days.
