Over yesterday and today, i'm now 8 hours into polishing and detailing the Cadillac.

Man o man, you don't realise just how big these things are until you polish them.

I think i'm finally getting a dislike for chrome too.

About a 1/3 of the way so far.... hope to be finished by Thursday, then i'll attack the ol girls car.  ::)

Lifted the top of this beauty.  Took it into the shed and gave it a bit of TLC. Don't drop it, it's over 100 years old.... :o

Gave the post a lick of paint while it was apart.

Should just throw them in a cupboard so that when on the odd chance you ever go to open the door an Avalanche of long unseen plastic drink bottles and twenty year old tuppaware containers comes busting out at you ..  Like my missus does .  >:( >:D >:D

Shouldn't the one with the yellow cap in row 4 be beside the yellow one in row 2 and then move the one on the far right in row 5 to the spot the one with the yellow lid previously occupied

They're actually sorted by brand with a couple of exceptions, oh and there are a few more yellow bottles in the post hence the gap beside the yellow bottle :)

My arse looked like it'd been in a waffle iron by the time i was finished.
For 56 year old paint, it still gets a decent shine going on.
Its a shame it has a few bumps and bruises from the first owner, but be buggered if i'm gunna dick around with the original paint.
Even knocked off the grime from behind the number plates.
Done, parked in the corner, 4 king sized sheets draped over it and lookin cooooool.

Not in the shed, but a little bit away, we have a swimming pool.

About 10 years ago, I filled it in...... for good reason too.

However, now i'm about to dig it out again by hand.

Over to you Pottsy.... ya up for it?

:cup:

Something I meant to ask you as well, Jeepers?

You've got "Mar 1964" tags on your number plate. Just to let people know what it is, or are they a requirement of some sort for display / rego purposes ???

That's how they do the tags in California (see the original plate in the trunk/boot)
So, because the car came off the assembly line on the 25th of March 1964, I just tagged the plates to suit.
So yeah, just to let people know what it is.

So how'd it go, TA ???

Did it work, or turn into a little puddle of molten aluminium ???

No melting at all, a slight bit of buckling, not sure if that was from the heat of jamming a heap of firewood in, I suspect the latter. Unfortunately, most of the Powdercoat is still intact though, so it's still whiteish. I have had an encore performance in it now as well and appears to be fine. I know that campfires can easily get above the melting temp of aluminium, but suspect it works like a heatsink on the outside to keep it cool. It has promise at it's very light compared to your typical steel version, and won't rust either.
