General Discussion / Re: Anyone tried the new Cobb ...
Last post by Foss - July 02, 2026, 07:16:52 AM
A mate was telling me the other day that he had recently bought one (LP gas version) for his next upcoming trip. He said it was the ducks ... and was way better than his Weber - smaller, lighter and more versatile. It also fits easier into his tunnel boot of his caravan and takes up less room. Apparently not on the cheaper side though !! Other than that, I cannot comment on the cooking side of things and how it performs, but he is a great cook and loves his cooking, so take that as you will. Cheers, Dave

With some of the new power banks coming out, maybe caravan batteries, solar controllers and inverters will be replaced with a unit that can move between van/house/boat/tent etc as needed.
Cheers

Quote from: Foo on June 28, 2026, 06:06:32 AMIf you ask me, new caravans are stupidly expensive and not worth the money, especially when the build quality is chit in many of them!  ::)

My brother and a cousin both bought new vans $95,000-$108,000 and both have had warranty issues on their first trip and subsequent trips after that.  >:(

Foo

They seem to want to bling up the vans with complexity - self-levelling airbags, huge complex power systems, digital control screens for all functions, big screen TVs in the outside wall, but then forget to quality control the basic frame and panel build.

Then all these influencers 'doing the lap' in their $200k+ vans they got a sponsorship deal on make many people think you need all this stuff to make it around Australia.

Geez, the top of the range Titanium has 5000VA Victron inverter, 1400W of solar, and 690Ah of 24V lithium batteries.

Reckon the power system alone is worth more than our 2007 Millard that was recently replaced ???

Financial difficulties

Administrators have been appointed for two-year old imported brand X Series RV and well-known Australian caravan manufacturer Sunland RV, along with sub-brand Phoenix RV.

The three RV brands are run by the same Melbourne owners and are marketed under the Pakenham, Victoria-based Global RV Sales banner.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Cobb Grill gas versions by chance (either the butane or LPG versions)? I've used the old charcoal heat bead version but was wondering if the gas versions were as good?

A friend has one with a USB charging port. I believe heat and vibration massage are also options available.
