+ Shakespeare plays & the rest of "English" & all the other basically useless stuff
Just imagine for a moment what kids could be taught ...
Finances, budgeting, tax
Driving lessons, including defensive driving, basic maintenance like changing a tyre
Household management - cooking, shopping, bill paying
You know, stuff they'll actually need for the rest of their life!
I went to a technical high school, learnt woodwork, metalwork, applied electricity. It was to prepare youngun’s for a trade. Started an apprenticeship as motor mechanic, lasted 10 months. Went to the abattoir to earn some real money. Had three businesses from 1984 to 2017 when I retired. Learnt a lot about maintenance from my father because I didn’t have an an electronic toy in my hands and would find myself watching in the shed with my brothers. I’ve rebuilt cars from the ground up renovated houses ,still at that one, my sons late 30s are handy the same as me, largely due to the fact , I believe because I wouldn’t have a TV in the house when they were young. They now thank me for it which is heartwarming. Part of my story, get me around a camp fire & I’ll talk to you about it. Sorry I have no time for MOST teachers but not all of them. PS I left school at 15
