A short rant:

I was just reviewing some upcoming trip planning.

It seemed pretty clear that camper trailers were not welcome at most Rest Stop or short term free camping.  This one at Kalgoorlie seemed typical.

https://www.ckb.wa.gov.au/our-community/traveller-information/72-hour-rest-stop-area.aspx

This is reinforced it seems to me by the approach/ appropriation of minimal impact camping by the CMCA version of LNT, and the CCA ACCESS program and their code and requirements.

These do seem to put more emphasis on the type of vehicle used rather than disposal of grey water and human waste.  I would think many camper trailers were capable of having porta-potties and tote tanks for grey water (just as many caravans in fact do not have such facilities).

This makes me think that there seems to be an element of pushing the barrow for caravans and motor homes (presumably CMCA and CCA main business here), and making this an exclusive club for some rather than genuine concern for the environment.

I appreciate that some stops because of setup and narrow areas may not suit some camper trailers, or increase risk of accident, etc, but not in many cases.

And this is just an impression as we pivot from 'off road' to 'off grid' and from 'leave no trace' to 'self contained RV' but it does irk me.  I think the emphasis all along should be on the control of the waste and not the vehicle type.  And probably stronger enforcement action.

There.  I feel better now.

:)

regards.

The "No grey water on the ground" has always seemed strange to us when you look at how parched & dry the places often are ???

We've always thought that surely they'd like guests watering the grass for them ???

Hi,
There is always a needy plant or bush that would appreciate some grey (or yellow) water.
Cheers

We arrived home about 5 weeks ago from a 7 month, 18,000km trip around a lot of Australia.
In 99% of the places we stayed the managers or owners asked that we run our grey water on a near by tree or on the dry brown grass. We have a grey water tank, but never needed to use it !!
