Well here I sit in a very large house devoid of furniture, for the last day/night.
Only things left are 2 x camping chairs, the 47l Evakool, a tv and a bed.
Tomorrow we leave our house of 36 years to live in a shed in a very quiet country town of 800 people.
If they lift the border restrictions in the next 3 months I'll buy a new 4x4, wobble box and hit the road for a while, if not
I'll start building another house.
Looking forward to no traffic, no noise, no neighbors, rainwater and clear air.
And we have a Dan Murphys a 45 minute drive away.  :cup:

Good luck with the new digs Ron.

Good luck on your future adventures Kanga. I lost my house through a separation about a year ago and thought bugger it, I'm too old to get into another mortgage so I decked out a 57 seater bus and have plonked it on a 5 acre bush block.   All the things I've collected over the years I have realised I didn't really need. I have down sized to the extreme. No mortgage, no rates, no power bills. Mate life is good. I sincerely hope you enjoy the same. Again, all the best wishes for your future Kanga.

To live in a shed in a very quiet country town of 800 people.  [  About 700 too many  ]
I'll buy a new 4x4, wobble box and hit the road for a while, if not
I'll start building another house. [ Turn the inside of the shed into your dream home / plain old shed outsides dont attract unwanted attention ] .
Looking forward to no traffic, no noise, no neighbors, rainwater and clear air.
And we have a Dan Murphys a 45 minute drive away. [ Home brew with water of the gods / makes  nice brews ]    :cup:
All the best Kanga ..Less is more ...

Might take the trailer perhaps.

Not keen on the shed part, but the town of 800 sounds awesome to me...

Enjoy the prospecting at the front door :)

Jeez, I don't even go that far for a camping weekend !!  Wait till they are on special and buy 20 cartons at a time !!   :cup:

No neighbors......you must be on a bush block near the above mentioned town ? There are some nice looking places down there in Mexico....pity the place is so cold !!

Have been going there for about 20 years. FIL (rip) lived there for 30.
Have had the block for 9 years, only one neighbor but I bought that 3 years ago.
Currently tenanted for a further 5 months.
I know most people but will never qualify as a local.

We took  " The Tree Change  " about 9 years ago to a town of 1800 people & 3 Pubs . We have gone the  " just another Head in the Crowd  " to being somebody . We joined the community  & become somebody in the community . The Big Smoke is about 1 1/2 hours down the road to Melbourne  , if you need to .  One of the best parts is on any weekend  we don't have to travel to paradise we live here 24/7 .

Well one week in and life has gone down to first gear.
Eat when hungry, sleep when tired and drink when thirsty -  no more clocks. No digital radio, and no FM either
tho the am station is ok. Gold Central Vic 1071.
Only have a 4G mobile modem which is quite cheap and ok.

Have been out to get a few loads of wood otherwise organising the shed.
In the 7 days have seen two cars come past [same one coming and going].

Why wait?
Surely you are only working for material things. Just do it.

Two months in and what a great decision this has been.
Got rid of the tenants, knocked the bounday fence down and have applied to re-align the boundaries.
Have plans for the new joint getting drawn up and while thats building will reno the other house and rent it out again.
Other than that finding a bit of color, the loddon river 15 minutes away, Cairn Curran 30 min away, the mighty Murray 2 hrs away.
Everything you do and everywhere we go, no traffic or crowds.
Went in Vicroads Maryborough to change addresses etc on all our licences, vehicles, boat & trailers. No lines friendly service and done in 5 minutes.
Had an oncology appointment yesterday, parked right out front, no one in waiting room, on time, just awesome.

Life is good in these places. About 12 years ago, we moved on to 40 acres in a rural area with a population of 325. Nearby, we have a small, country town with an IGA, butcher, baker and pub, within easy access. We're pretty well self sufficient and to be honest, all this isolation kerfuffle hasn't changed my life one iota!
I hope you enjoy your new life as much as I enjoy mine, Kanga!

4 months in and life is good.
Nice and quiet in the bush and on the water.
Go into Bendigo every now and then and that traffic pisses me off, not looking forward to
city traffic when we get to visit the kids.
Renovating an old miners cottage at a snails pace and having fun doing it.
