Lindsay, I will also be doing Mungo & Flinders....and thinking of having 3 weeks off work....but before I book them in, was waiting to see what dates others are considering.....if there is still others wanting to do the same itinery..

As the long weekend is the 3rd of October, I would use the rest of that week to wander home....which means I would be leaving home on the 17th of September ( unless I got another week off ??? )

I'll see how things pan out in the next month or so, but I need to book leave soon ( in case some bar**ard beats me to it !!)

We will join you (bar some unforeseen circumstance). Jodie and I are keen to take a bit of time to look around on the way so it could work in well with you guys.

I think we will be having a few weeks off and wander down through Cowra, Hay, Mildura (check out Mungo), Renmark then Jamestown. On the way home the Coorong, Mt Gambier, Great Ocean rd, Mt Eliza, Bairnsdale, Jindabyne and home.  :cup: Can't wait. ;D

Nice to see Bairnsdale on your itinerary - our home town!

Looks like SWMBO and I will just make it. Our "outback adventure" was due to leave Bairnsdale on 30th Sept, so we should be able to get there for a couple of nights at least. Should be a good way to kick off our trip, before heading north into the fun stuff.

Anyone accepting bribes to reserve a good spot? ;D

Cheers,

Cam

We passed through Bairnsdale twice over the new year break on the way to Briagolong and on the way to Cann Valley on the way home. Lovely part of Vic.

Looking forward to meeting up in Jamestown Wilmington.

Everybody's got to have a plan, and our plan is to be there.
We are going to make a 4 week trip of it, Come across towards Broken Hill, head down the Jamestown. After head down to Adelaide, catch up with a mate that we have been promising to visit for years then head back up the East coast, maybe or up the center of Vic/NSW back home. Who knows.

Hairs,

In Oct. last year we had a similar trip to the one you have planned, but in reverse to camdyson through Hay etc.
Mungo National Park is well worth the visit as it`s such an unusual place and the camping area is a good one.

We came from Mungo to Balranald, road was great then and had lunch at Yanga N.P. near Balranald.
It`s a new N.P with plenty of sites on the river, but it seemed a bit overgrown.

Enjoy planning your trip and have a great one.

We were there a couple of weeks after it opened, and apart from having to wait for the road in to dry out after approx 2mm of rain during the night ( black soil ) we loved it...nice and isolated...( couple of widow maker trees dropping during the night !! ) but a endless supply of firewood ,new dunnies, solar operated lights as well...lot of history with the shearing sheds close by ( Yanga was one of the biggest sheep runs in the country ..apparently )

Hi Gronk,

Did you visit Yanga Homestead as well? It`s a few klms. further up the hwy and well worth visiting.
When we were there in oct 2010 it was the first time in 10 years there had been any water in the lake
surrounding it and it was full.

The homestead is only open certain hours but there is another building with lots of historical documents etc.
A local group look after the gardens and are restoring them to their original state.

We have registered, the roster looks good, looking forward to meeting a few of the charachters from on here!!!

No, as we were just passing thru, we didn't do a lot of checking of the surrounding area, but the history suggests it would be a place to go back to one day !!

I had a look through the thread but couldnt find the exact times, its probably me.  When is the activity happening, is it arrive Friday sometime and out Monday or Tuesday.  Some seem to be leaving Tuesday and some Monday and is anything happening on Friday or is it an arrival and get to know each other day.
