Depending on it's weight (says  it's around 230lbs or about 105kgs)...whack it on the back section of a trayback ute,  use the front area of the tray for a small canopy containing fridge and kitchen area etc....could be better then climbing up into a rooftop tent maybe, and no canvas..

Are you saying mounted on the tray/ute well, rather then in the tow hitch?  Would be a safer option.

yep...the hitch idea is rubbish IMO, but I don't mind the rest of the concept, so mount it elsewhere would be a better option I reckon.

I can already hear the sound it makes as it bottoms out and explodes. It's about as off-road as the low profile tyres on that Ute.

i actually thought after seeing that, how good would that be if it was incorporated into the rear of a custom canopy, or even have it coming out sideways even. Thier idea has some merit, I just think the route they have gone down will never take off here....but in overseas markets where hundreds of millions of people have nowhere to keep large trailers and don't own large 4wd's, maybe the idea is more appealing to them, who knows.

No way that would support 100kg bounding actually on the road

To me, all the other photo's appear to be PhotoChop creations rather than real, so I wonder if they've ever actually mounted it on the back of a vehicle

With the still shots they may still be photoshopped or an artist impression but the video looks real enough.  As a stand along unit it does the job of somewhere to sleep but prefer Rumpigs idea of tray mounted or incorporated into a canopy better.  One thing with the unit attached to the tow hitch on a wagon, you would not want a cargo barrier otherwise getting stuff out the back would be a right pain.

right at the end of the video they have an overhead picture of the black jeep driving along the highway. Seems to be wobbling a hell of a lot ?

Having just built a camper with a slideout on each side of it i think i can understand why manufacturers are slow to incorporate them into the smaller vans, they take a lot of engineering and add a fair amount of weight. My lefthand one that incorporates a bed on the inside and a kitchen on the outside has a total of six sets of drawer slides, three sets of 225kg, these add a heap of weight on their own. I built it like this because i dont want to tow a big van, mine is only 1750 wide x 3000 long. Of course manufacturers would have better access to more advanced technology and  lighter materials, but you still need a fair structure to keep them self supporting

that set up in the hitch hotel isn't self supporting though, appears to have like trestle saw stools under it that you need to set up also, maybe those legs fold down from under the unit? Mounting it up on a tray would mean longer legs are required, then stability becomes more of an issue I guess.....having such a unit self supporting would take alot of engineering as you say.

Not wrong.  When you consider it is just 2 inch square tube holding it horizontally and the aerodynamics of the unit, along with all the other forces at play, I just can't see the longevity of the unit.

In the FQA it may be the option extras.

Yes. The Hitch Hotel Classic has an optional 16? slide attachment that bolts onto the frame of the Hitch Hotel. The Hitch Hotel Classic comes standard with a stationary frame that sits approximately 6? from the rear bumper of the vehicle.

Not sure if this has been commented on, but the picture of inside the extended cabin where you put your bed - looks really uneven due to the telescoping effect of the pods popping out?

Does that mean the mattress you sleep on would be uneven/not flat?

Scroll about halfwaydone.  There is a gif showing the floor folding down flat as the sections extend out and folding up when slide in.
