Very nice, Got a soft spot for Mini's .. Never been around any corner ever, as fast as I have in a Mini cooper .. ;D ;D
They're like go karts, your arse is so close to the ground the sense of speed is heightened, it's a great feeling.

A man after my own heart. My first car was a 76 mini clubman. Also had a 74 moke and a pretty neat 68 mini deluxe. The 68 had a 1310, twin 1 1/4 su carbs, big cam and straight through exhaust with a hot dog ( just to take the edge off of it). I'll scan a pick when I get home.
Cheers, Mike.
2015 Mitsi Pajero. Dobbo MRR Lift, ARB Bar, MM4X4 Lock Up Mate, Intervolt DC Pro DBS, 12,000lb Mako winch. Bla Bla Bla.

A mate back when I was about 18...... shiiiit, that's 40 years ago.... :'(

Base model mini with a good engine and fitted a side draft weber to the silly thing.
Now, if you fit one of those, the weber hangs in the hole where the speedo should be.

One of the biggest little pieces of crap ever to get petrol in it..... it was rough, dings all over it....but Shit, could it haul when put to the test.

The odd backfire into the cabin was pretty normal.
For the life of me, I can't remember what became of it.... but i'm sure it was scrap iron long ago.

Its got me stuffed now what happened to the bloody thing.

I hope i'm not getting demen

How cool is this?

I went down to get some petrol for the coming week-end and stopped off to put in my lotto entry for the week.

A bloke walked up to me and said, Wow Man, I love your Cadillac, its gorgeous.

Anyway, as you do, we chatted for a while and he told me he had a 57 Seville and 60 Deville and a 63 Thunderbird. He asked if I'd restored the Fleetwood myself and he was a bit shocked when I said it wasn't/hasn't been restored, just maintained.

He told me he was from interstate, during the chat, it turned out, he'd imported the Thunderbird with the same people who bought our Fleetwood to Australia.

After some time, he introduced himself..... Hi, i'm Elvis and then gave me a business card and sure enough, his name is Elvis Leahy.

Look, I know its not "The Elvis", but who cares, not many people can say Elvis gave their car his approval.

Righto. My first car. A 76 Mini Clubman. Stock as a rock. It was nicknamed PP. Power Plus(only a little bit sarcastic) Got it from a family friend. Had it for about six months fixing up a few things before I got my Ps. Had my licence for 4 days and stacked it going to pick a mate up and head into TAFE. Didn't make it to my mates place. Dirt road that I have known my whole life and a slight lapse in concentration.........BANG. And no I was not driving silly.

My 68 Mini Deluxe. I got it with a stockish 1100 and drove it around while I found a 1275 and had it built. There was an old fella that had done his time on them when they first come out and he used to work from home. We ended up with a nice, balanced 1310 with twin 1 1/4 su carbs, exhaust and a really big cam that I chose. The old bloke(Bill) didn't agree with my cam choice and wasn't going to fit it. He was ranting and raving that it will be a pig below 3000 rpm and you'll have to rev the ring out of it to get the most out of the cam. In the end he fitted and he was right. It was a pig down low but golly gosh it was fun to wind it up. Especially when I had a source of 100LL Avgas. All on 4 wheels drum brakes. I had discs ready to go but never got around to fitting them. The final incarnation of the car is the photo with the white widened Cooper S rims. I redid the interior, new front and back bumpers, new flares and a good 2nd hand grille that we bent the louvres up a bit for some more airflow. My mate with his 5L VC Dunnydore couldn't touch around town. This one earned the name GRUMPY. My Girlfriend at the time ( now the Wifey) named it. She called it GRUMPY because she reckoned it never sounded happy. Big cams do that I suppose. I miss this car. I do have other pics but can't get to the box to get the albums out. No pics of my aforementioned Moke. Very fun car the Moke was.

And my 76 Celica coupe. Holden Cyan Blue paint, retrimmed interior. 2TG 1600twin can with side draught solex carbs. Just a really neat, nice car. I'm actually looking at a couple of these on the net ATM. Thinking that this might be my next purchase. Although I think I want something with A/C this time around.

A pristine Holden Torana which sat in a North Sydney storage unit for almost 30 years is set to break records when it goes under the hammer next week.

The 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X hatchback is part of the Shannons Autumn Classic, where auctioneers expect it will fetch between $200,000 and $250,000.

Have you Mini fans seen this build on youtube? Probably not one for the purists.

Project Binky. Possibly the slowest Mini build ever, but quality work.
Bad Obsession Motorsports is the channel.

I have been watching that one from the start. Very slow build. I laugh at the amount of tea they drink. Imagine the beer that would get drunk if it was an aussie build.

Love Blinky

Im one of those strange mini lovers
i like to flog them drive them like you stole it  ;D
Modify them within reason ie i tune mine via bluetooth  ;D
and just enjoy it

edz

They most likely would have been better off to just build a tube frame chassis with tags for the mini panels to attach too .. AKA  like our V8 super taxis .. ..
Still been a fan of BINKY  from the start though .
Years back one of the guys in my old racing club was Shoe Horning a Leyland P76 V8 into a mini in an East West config . Lost touch over the years so dont know if it was ever finished or not, last I heard it was driveable

Jeepers obviously you've never been pulled over by the NSW Highway Plods when they had Mini's.
Nothing like a NSW Plod peeling himself out of one, and then looking down on you.
They had some seriously big coppers driving Mini's on the Highways.

No troubles with the Tow bar Its stood the test of time, Think our old HR Wagon had one similar that dragged a custom built Heavy 18' dual axle van half way round Australia ....  Draw it up, write up a brief and rubber stamp it as approved  ;D ;D
