Where's Stabicraft when ya need him?

Turnbull will romp it in.

You'd vote for Ronald McDonald before you'd vote for Shorten.

I just voted and was surprised there was no queue. I was also surprised with the people who are usually shoving 'how to vote' crap in your face, they were very subdued as if they were also over it.
I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...

Same, same - one of them wasn't even pushing the forms out - he was just waiting for people to ask for them  ???

Mind you, it would need something like an 18% swing for Liberal to lose this seat, so maybe they couldn't be bothered  :D

On the same lines, over the full campaign, we've received the normal 3 monthly newsletter from our sitting Member, telling us what a wonderful job the Lib's are doing  ???, plus another letter with postal vote applications & that has been it.

Not one pamphlet, how-to-vote or anything from the other 4 candidates  ???

Having said that, I can't really say that I missed it getting it all though!  >:D

I got a text at 8am to say vote labor to save Medicare!  Third text of this campaign with no opt out and when I text back "no" it fails to send. One would think that illegal if one of our businesses do it but I bet there's some opt out of the law for political parties arrrrh
Here for a good time, not a long time!

Are you in a marginal seat Jim?
We're in a safe Labor seat (Julia was ours, sorry  ::) ::)) and we didn't get anything like that.....feeling a little left out now...

I'm in a rural area, so we go to an obscure booth to cast our vote and often make a day of it. We could go 6km the other way and have to line up and walk 200m from a carpark in town to the school, or not.

Today 'Just popping down to vote' took 4 hours, 1/4 tank of fuel, included lunch and I only had to line up as long a it took to get my wallet out to prove who I was. The Mrs was disappointed though, there were no democracy sausages on offer from the school P&C.

The Electoral Commission collects the data on how many votes were given to each candidate at each booth, so traveling helps skew the demographic statistics for the booth, and I'm a bit of a stirrer, so that appeals to me.

So, now to follow my Dads tradition of sitting on the lounge and sipping port while the votes come in, unfortunately some self-serving clown will be PM tomorrow and we won't see or hear from our local member until they come out trying to convince us they have been working tirelessly for us for the past 3-4 years..

Doing better than our local puppet, he spends all his time in hiding as he got caught doing dodgy deals with Chinese money.
But its OK, he'll be voted back in.. ;D

Well that might explain why the staff at check in I noticed put her initials on my 2 voting sheets...   effectively linking my votes with her check off book / electrical roll??....

I thought at the time - how does that make the voting process totally anonymous and democratic; aka...  welcome a gulag 1950s style USSR....

Just got home about 15 minutes ago from walking up the road to cast our vote. No lining up at all, there was more people running the place then voters....I have no idea why people go up early and line up to vote.
The smell of bacon proves aromatherapy isn't total bull$/!t

Hoyks

They mark that you voted and they mark that the paper was issued. There is nothing linking the 2, unless you were the only person to vote at that booth for the day.

Bird

The only way to vote is to vote for who you expect to bend you over and play hide the sausage without lube the least, cause none of them will do anything FOR you.

The papers are issued by the role checking person.
You have to be on the role to get the papers.
For the papers to be valid, they have to have the role checkers squiggle in the corner.
No squiggle, not counted.
You then go off to a nearby location and complete the papers as required.
They should not be able to see or record your choice, even though you are still within their view.
Once you complete the papers, you then place/insert those papers into a ballot box with everybody else's.

Did you sign those ballot papers with your name address and phone No.?  I hope not.
That's the only way, unless you get them to help you fill out the ballot papers.
Then you get the Deceased people who still vote from beyond the grave, good trick if you can get it done.
Did you use a pencil to fill out the forms, I hope not.
So much easier to change a pencil mark than a ballpoint pen or felt tip pen/marker vote.
