this could be cool to be involved with

The festival that brought The Giants to Perth four years ago will next year unveil the world's longest stage to pay tribute to one of rock 'n' roll's legendary giants.

Perth Festival will transform a section of Canning Highway into a rolling stage for local, national and international acts during its Highway To Hell closing event, paying homage to AC/DC's original frontman Bon Scott.

On March 1, 2020 - 40 years since Scott was laid to rest at Fremantle Cemetery - the southern stretch of highway from Raffles Hotel to the Old Fremantle Traffic Bridge will be closed to make way for the bands to perform Acca Dacca songs from the back of moving trucks.

The strip of highway is said to have inspired Scott's 1979 hit Highway to Hell.

Festival artistic director Iain Grandage said for years Scott had walked the iconic stretch of highway from the Leopold Hotel in Palmyra to Fremantle and AC/DC lit up the Raffles Hotel with legendary gigs.

"Now we're closing the highway, all 10km of it, for one special day designed for families and fans alike," he said.

"The idea of closing down the highway to celebrate a favourite son is an exciting way to celebrate our city and bring the curtain down on the 2020 festival.

"Everyone is invited. As Bon Scott sings in the song that inspired this event, 'And all my friends are gonna be there too'."

The festival's finale will kick off from Canning Bridge with the WA Police Pipe Band leading the procession of trucks carrying a diverse array of bands past the Raffles Hotel.

KEXP is a always a great Youtube channel to follow. So many great artists from around the world.

This time its the turn of one of Australia's more creative, eccentric and amazingly talented bands King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard to light up the studio with few live songs.

More songs follow  ;D
I've been liking "Planet B".
They did a few early releases on Spotify before the full album came out.

I liked their trippy stuff, but prefer this heavier sound.

I like the heavier stuff too. But it's funny how even the heavy thrashy stuff on Infest the Rats Nest still sounds a bit trippy.

Wife's at work tonight. Chilling out with a nice Captain Morgan Black rum while cleaning the living room (brownie points right? ). Got Alice Cooper's 2013 Wacken concert on the TV. Started off a bit rough, but gets better as it goes.
I usually tend towards metal, but have been enjoying a bit of Alice lately.

15yo son comes downstairs. Asked him if he had heard of Alice Cooper?  Umm Nope.. He says..Who's Alice Cooper.... ??
17yo Daughter is studying for uni exams. Figure I better make sure the music is not bothering her up the hallway. Out of interest I ask if she has heard of Alice....Umm nope.

Dammit. I have failed somewhere here  ;D

MadMarv

I went a couple of weeks ago - it was awesome.  I turned 18 the year it came out so it brought back plenty of old memories.  Makes you wonder, who of today's bands/artists will still be selling out stadiums in 30 years time?

Aerosmith... full bore... bloody neighbour's watching movies or playing video games till all hours last night, with sound turned up so bloody loud. Thought I'd give him a bit of a return serve. And hopefully educate his music palate in the process.

I usually listen to audiobooks on my hour+ commute (each way) in Sydney...

the last week, one finished mid commute so I just hit shuffle on the head unit in the car.

Sara Storer popped up and I've had all her albums on shuffle ever since.

nice and relaxing.
