I currently have Thule Wing-bars on my roof on the landcrusier, but am now going to have a hilux that i will use for transporting the boards, thing is the Thule system for the hilux I don't like as it is just a getter mount that is clamped onto the pillar, so im looking at the rhino rack vortex system with the RLT600 mounting set up as it's support system physically bolts to the roof on a track, so way more solid and reliable in my opinion.  My question is, to save money hopefully i was wondering if the actual Thule wing-bar will fit onto the Rhino rack mounts, if it does i wont have to buy the rhino rack bars, just the mounting system only which will save me some coin. does anyone know if this is possible, no one from the TJM and ARB stores have been able to tell me.  Thanks

I 'd be a bit wary as a lot of set ups I've seen like that are prone to rust under the tracks which is not visible until too late especially in a marine environment. We had a Mazda wagon which suffered from it.

I sell roof racks at work.
Plus I have different brands on both my utes.
I have never seen bars and fitting kits from different brands that were interchangable without some form of "home" modification.

A mate just sold his Subaru Outback & asked if I'd like his Rhino bars for my Forester.

Nice idea but they don't fit  >:(

Hi mate,
I actually have the set up from rhino rack that you are talking about on my shed floor.
Thule and rhino are most definitely not interchangeable.
Rust issues are caused by incorrect installation.  Either by not using the right adhesive or by not leaving out the swarf or by cold galvanising where you drill.

I'm actually a big fan of rhino rack products I highly recommend them to everyone.

Thanks for that, I finally found out that they wouldn't work, so I just ordered the full Rhino set up, the dealer is going to have their fit-out people (external company) install them prior to me driving down next week to pick up the Ute.  I presume they have the skills to do it properly, I was happy to do myself having done the rhino ones on a previous Ute myself however time is my problem and not being from Brisbane I wouldn't have anywhere to do it.
