I guess this is another Victorian event that can easily be blamed on Allen and the Vic Labor Govt.

I drove to Echuca on Thursday with van it tow. It was 43c when we arrived and stayed around 40c for the weekend.

Packed up this morning in the pouring rain with BOM warnings of a "super cell" forming and likely to cause all sorts of damage. Arrived home and unpacked again in the rain.

My dilemma is - you just never know whether to pack beer, red wine, scotch oh and clothing can be an issue too  ;D

They share our oxygen

Last night, sadly, the Erica & District Fire Brigade was kept busy attending to numerous campfires in Walhalla, Fultons Creek, Coopers Creek and Bruntons Bridge. This was all on a day of TOTAL FIRE BAN. The Police were with them and were issuing summons to court...so a number of people now have a date with the magistrate.

Some people were ignorant and will have to explain how they "didn't know". In other cases it was belligerent. In Walhalla, the worse example was from a camper who had their campfire burning within a few metres of a "Total Fire Ban" sign and was told by other campers not to light the fire. These people were told to "f$&k off" so they did the right thing and called 000. The CFA and Police attended. Now this person can argue their behaviour in court.

Today is also a TOTAL FIRE BAN. If you spot anyone with a fire, call it in. We simply cannot risk a fire getting away at this time...just look at what has happened elsewhere.

NOTE: for those people who are considering going down the rabbit hole that this is all about "immigration" to pursue a political and race angle, you should be aware that the majority of people involved were white and most likely born in this country. They were also the ones who gave the most lip and argued the point. 99% of people were doing the right thing...there is 1% of fools who ruin it for everyone else

There have been a number of reports of issues with campers around Erica ie leaving rubbish, telling local authorities where to go etc etc. Ignoring total fire bans when half the state is alight is just begging to be dobbed in. Sometimes being a dobber IS Australian eh.

Bit of confusion over today being a total fire ban day. It was publicised yesterday but according to the Emergency app it is only in North Central and North East. I understand they are worried that there just aren't enough firies available at the volunteer stations with resources attending the main fires.

On your post about the Walhalla fires Bird, I was watching them on the vic emergency app and they looked like someone was lighting them. A scarey concept considering 13 years ago on the 13th of January the Aberfieldy fire was deliberately lit and burnt out where we live. ( near  Heyfield). Over the last couple of days there has been a couple of small fires around Bruntens Bridge, so they're still out their.
We are fully prepared with 3 small dams and water tanks totalling about 700k litres of water storage and sprinklers everywhere. Most importantly is a very solid get the heck out of here early policy. Still, no one wants to go through that Shit again. Not just the absolutely terrifying ordeal, but the insurance dramas afterward.
Anyone out there dealing with fires right now, I wish you the best of luck. And remember....nothing you own is worth the life of your family or friends. Piss off early.
