What does Australia emit?
SFA compared to others, and I'm lead to believe the vast majority is because we Export fossil fuels, which we don't use.

This ideology that our government is pushing IMO is costing us.
Sorry, I bought politics to the camp

A bit of a Google once suggested the carbon output from our coal exports is very similar to our own carbon output, therefore in theory if we stopped our coal exports we effectively stop the equivalent of our carbon contribution to climate change and therefore save the world.

Stop coal exports

Australia exported $91.4 billion worth of coal in 2023-24

The coal industry employed around 50,600 people in .

And replace that with what?

Actualy I searched employment figures as well.
From memory I thought it was a bit higher, closer to 60,000.
But I was just looking at random google answers just to get a bit of a picture.

But its not just the jobs, but the money out of the community.
Assume average annual wage of $100,000? Tax at 30%, so take home $70,000. Half on mortgage, quarter on car, leaves $17,500 x 50,000 people spent in community. $875 mill not being spent in community.

But if I side step the tongue in check intention, or sarcasm......what would happen if we did stop exporting coal?
Can we asume that most is used to cheaply power industries that now supply goods to us cheaper than we can produce?

All just spitballing ideas because really have no definitive solutions.

The majority of our export coal is used for steel production about 60%

And we don't have a steel industry.

Sometimes, there isn't a thread to post something in.
So, the Random question thread seems the closest.
Today is Vietnam Veterans Day.
Over the years I have worked alongside with returned servicemen. You don't talk about it, you don't share much, you have your demons.
I thank you for your service.

I scored my Dad's original crooklock with 3 keys when we sorted out his house and chattels.  It now lives in the 4wd as too easy to open doors when parked next to the camp bed

I'll sit back, crack another beer, and watch.

What's the best way of giving it a clean ???

Just a litre of diesel in it, good slosh around, then tip it out on the weeds up the back ???

I assume it's a plastic jerry.

I'd use clean water, with some washed gravel or similar thrown in to remove any internal scum.
Give it all a good shake in all directions until clean.
Empty it and rinse out with more clean water, then leave it in the sun to dry out.
