Traveller

Waya Island Resort in Fiji, enjoying the warm. Loving it.

The Burning Mountain - Mt Wingen rest area south of Tamworth
Has a burning coal seam under the mountain - apparently hot stuff, but still freaking cold here for us NQlanders. Gonna be 5 degrees tonight.
I now love diesel heaters more than my guitars I think. Maybe more than my kids if it gets colder...?  ;D
Thought the trip would be uneventful.... But got a few tales to share when I get a chance..Deflated airbag, warped rotors, Flat batteries, Plus an 'Unplugged' non-musical event nobody wanted that destroyed every caravan plug at the top of the Gibraltar Range....stay tuned to my caravan thread  8)

Lightning Ridge tonight.
Survived Walgett last night - best Chinese we have had for ages at Walgett RSL.
Staff super friendly - nice place
Town has a bad rep, but hey, we are from Townsville - apparently the most unsafe LGA in Australia, so Walgett is no drama at all ;D
A tad cold at -1 deg last night.

Lorne Station caravan park at Lightning Ridge tonight. $30 for a powered site - can't beat that - out of town a bit - nice spot

Blackall, Qld. Winding our way back home.
Car fridge fridge battery seems to have died - Think the battery management has failed - won't recharge using the 240v charger unless you put 12V across the battery terminals from another source to start it off. Was a Kings cheapie.
Also caravan batteries not being charged by solar, water leaks at pressure fitting and drinking water tap- so as per usual, stuff keeps breaking ;D
Oh well, makes for a good story I guess - trip summary will be done when we get home.
Oh, and doing one's census while travelling is a pain in the butt. About to leave Mitchell this morning and a bloke rocks up with a census form  - They certainly don't miss you ;D

Was a damn fine sunset tonight though 8)

You are right about census staff, I was camped near Wiluna, about to start the Canning the next morning in 2016, when some census staff on their way to an aboriginal community turned up, and after we had finished our meal, produced the census papers to fill out.

To top it off, when back home in Townsville six weeks later, a census collector turns up on my doorstep to query why I hadn't filled the census form out. they did confirm a couple of weeks later they had tracked down the one I had done in WA

Last census we were doing our Cape York trip and on the way home we stayed at The Temple at Portland Roads. Over dinner and drinks one night we met the local census collector and he asked if we would like to help deliver the forms, so the next day we jumped in his (borrowed) boat and took the forms out to the yachts anchored offshore, as well as down to Restoration Island where we had a visit and cuppa with Dave Glasheen (the castaway who lived there for many years).
