How did it go?
lost some low down power as they wound the fuel back as I expected them too. Picked up a touch of top end and stays a bit longer through the middle section now ( they also wound the boost up a touch aswell).... Overall the vehicle drives a lot smoother, and the fuel aneroid I had added along with the dyno tune has sorted the excessive black smoke it was blowing. No idea about fuel economy yet, vehicle hasn't hardly been driven since it was worked on

With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

it was only a 3 1/2 hour job because i called in a mate who used to be a mechanic...lol

Well I have to take my hat off to himself, he loves to do it to the end. I'm still proud of him.  I think he has recovered now:) cheers rellbell

Up early and finished my 2 year project to put a spare under the Expanda on a cruiser winch. Just gotta make some brackets to hold the tyre snug.

Here for a good time, not a long time!

Nice one.

Been thinking of doing something similar on my box trailer. Started thinking about it the day I got the trailer - 15 years ago! Still thinking about, but feeling a little inspired now.

What effect do you think it has on your departure angle?

Mine on the Heaslip looks like it is fairly minimal.

That looks great. I've been thinking of doing this as well. I've looked on evil bay for the winch. Any other leads on where to pick one up ?

Thanks guys.

Yeah departure angle is a bit of concern.  That's why it's as far forward as it is now. Personally wanted it at the back but that would have been a definite issue. It should be right, it barely hangs below a line from the bumper to the wheels and the bumper has not scraped yet. I ll lift the whole van with schackle  and 16"s if I have to. I have a box a mates made for the drawbar so the spare can't go back there.

It takes the same crank handle as for the drop jacks, also made it so I can also use the Landcrusiers winch handle if needed as well. While trying to keep light 2.4mm duragal and tubing "Double redundancy " that's the aviation side of me coming out lol

Re the winch they come up from time to time. Also on Alibaba occasionally they list new 200 type winches.

Winches come in two types, DO NOT get the  one with the  cable.

DO GET the one with the chain links.

The one with the cable has been known to drop your spare on the road.
Rust etc., builds around the end of the cable and the lifting plate separates from the cable.
Available from 60, 80, & 100 Series Cruisers.  See your Local LP. Gas  Installer.
He has to pull them out and junk 'em when he fits the Gas Tank.

X 2 on all of this.  My mechanic fits gas tanks, so was awash as to get one.

went out to do the grass harrowing and stick racking in the paddock, and not only caught and wrecked some fencing, but the harrows broke. so spent several hours fixing them properly.

Annoying part is we only need them for a couple of hours a year and it took me several hours to fix them.
After all that i did the harrowing and broke em in other spots.

darn antique crap. they have been used so much that they are on their last few years of use.

Yeah I knew someone who used the wire cable and did exactly that. Chains the go. Re cruiser ones the 100 series one is good cause it is a flat mounting base, but you need the key for the drive. The 200 one is good cause they dropped the key and it uses a 12-18mm shaft with a 25x6m roll pin but it has a stepped back so if using channel you need relief, hence why I used 2x 50mm angle.

Do you really need the Key for fitting in the winch drive.
You can get the key socket out.
They are only held in by a flexible washer, which interfere fits in the drive socket.
You can still put the hook in there and wind them down/up.
You have to leave space for putting the winder in over the tyre to operate the winch.
Just like Achjimmy has done.  As well as somewhere to tighten the tyre against.

I tried to fit a standard Toyota intercooler to my Prado today and everything was going according to plan until...

I hadn't realised that my inlet manifold is nearly an inch wider than the intercooled version. Doh! So I'll have to modify the adaptor plate and use a silicone bend to make it fit.

Fitted new slotted rotors and pads all round. OK it wasn't my shed, it was my mate's shed but he has a hoist :)

seriously, I've never seen tyres look that good.

Approx 20,000 klms old. They haven't been washed for 2 months and I usually give them a scrub to keep the white lettering white. Pity about the lead stain from the wheel weights, I'll have to talk to BD about that. Dark wheels hides the brake dust nicely too :)

That's what I meant.
The tyre has still got the soap stain on the  Carcass from when it was fitted up.
That's besides the crayon  mark to line up the valve with.
Could be a leg pull hapnin here. ;D
