All tyres on the rig look like they are still up and by the size of it that was a truck re-tread that was hit.
see the bit of smoke before we saw the actual bits flying so maybe the tread got caught in the works and that started the jacknife?
either that or the impact must have startled the driver and he swerved and lost it that way.

I had a rear right tyre go like that on a trip with a couple of other myswagers. It just went bang, tread gone,  and it was not a retread. It was a spare though as I had already had a flat a couple of days earlier. I put it down to tyre failure as the air pressure was ok and plenty of tread on the tyre.
