FYI.

SEASON FIVE BEGINS THIS SUNDAY AT NOON ON THE TEN NETWORK - FRASER ISLAND

Season Five of Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures kicks off this Sunday at midday on November 18 on the TEN Network with our Fraser Island episode, so make sure you are in front of a TV!

Pat takes you to the iconic Fraser Island and shows us some places you may never have heard about. Join him as he explores the island's beauty and history, and shows you some great tips on how to cross tidal creeks, get yourself out of a bog safely and getting a good camping kit together without blowing your holiday budget.

Episode two - Cape York Part 1 - will be shown the following Sunday on November 25, with Part 2 on December 9. Not your regular trip to The Cape, there are plenty of surprises in store (it's the Cape like never before) and tips on getting through without damaging your vehicle.

If only I was home sitting on the couch on a Sunday lunchtime I would watch it, not a good time slot for fellow enthusiasts.

Totally agree,, that is one reason I don't watch it but the other is that IMO I don't think that Pat is very good....sorry to those who idolise him...

What's the go with everyone bagging out magazines/documentary shows that have a lot of advertising in them. In this day and age, do you honestly think they could make it work without advertising dollars coming in. Enjoy the mags/shows for what content they have and skip the ads if you wish. Let's be honest, they are all promoting the industry that we love (4wd and camping) so it can't be a bad thing. Rant over.

Yes yes, new this would be coming. The original post was just to let people know the show was back on. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple. No need to leave derogatory remarks about it. Rant now officially over.

Oh and if you bag the hosts of these shows, just think how you would look if you were doing the same thing....... i know if i were the host, most people would have to watch with a bucket sitting on their lap, either they'd throw up from looking at my horrible head or they'd throw up from laughing at all the f*ck ups i make of things!!!!!!! ;D

Totally agree mate.. I wasn't bagging him, just don't like him as a host, i could never host a tele show for the same very reasons as you....

But I reckon that 'All Aussie Adventures' hosted by Russell Coight was the best 4wd/camping show ever made.. they should bring it back to telly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Aussie_Adventures

X 1000! Let's start a petition....... ;D

On the subject of Pat, we enjoy the show. It showcases some of the best this country has to offer, and the camera work/photography is top notch.

Do a search for him and the show on UTube and you'll find some episodes!

I'd search for you but the Fun Police won't let me go to that site or many other sites either ... shhhhh  don't tell about this forum or they'll block it too!

We have them on video somewhere.  Were lucky enough to see some of them being  filmed (our oldest daughter is in two episodes, aged about 7, she's now 22).  Her school was asked to provide a few extra's for a day. The filming was nearly as funny to watch as the final product!

She still claims it as her professional acting debut.

Bingo, can still get them:

An untapped wealth of knowledge.
Russell Coight memorable quotes:
"I never go into the outback without a decent supply of water, and the general rule for how much you'll need is three litres per day, per person, per man, per degree over 25 degrees celcius, per kilometre if walking on foot, in the winter months dividing it by two, plus... another litre... at the end"

"Some of the animals are nocturnal, so the best time to see them is at night. Only you can't see them, because it's dark. "

"The difference between seeing someone and NOT seeing someone in the outback is 110 square kilometers. That's alotta land, and not many people. Depending on where you are within that land. If you're in a town, the numbers go right up. "
:cup:

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

That's my sentiment too, I do think Pats shows have improved in the infomercial to article ratio and the filming is very good as others mentioned. The only part that gets me "dry reaching" now is his drivel about the Patrol, especially when he discuss's it power !!
Here for a good time, not a long time!

We love his shows and have been looking forward to the next series.  :cup:
Yes he promotes Patrols, but they are his main sponsor and although I hate commercials, we would not have these shows without them.   And I have already entered his next competition!  $160,000 worth of prizes sounds good.  ;D

But for me sadly we lost a true legion when Malcolm Douglas passed away.  :(   Miss his shows.

Amen to that. There is a guy that managed to keep his sponsors and viewers happy. What a great bush ambassador.
