Would be good to see production touring cars race like the old days, when what ever won on sunday sold on monday.
V8 supercars are just a circus on wheels.

Those last 5 or 6 laps with Lowndes moving from 5th to a podium finish proves he is the class of he field. I am a ford fan and was surrounded by the red army and when I suggested to them that Lowndes would make third they doubted it, however knowing how he peddles under pressure it was a formality, no way was he going to settle for 5th.

I support ford but have always supported and had great respect for Lowndes, he is a champion on and off the track. We were standing at the finish line it was an awesome end to a great race.

Agree.....how good was he!!!! I had my money on Lowndes getting through too. What a great drive.......so too Reynolds. I reckon it was a shame Reynolds didn't win in the end as it would've been nice to have a new winner on the podium. That being said, you've gotta give it to the Holden team (not that I really have a leaning either way), but sure was a great race!!

To be honest if Lowndes wasn't held up in the pit behind Wincup during one of the stops costing him about 8 seconds he would have been standing on the top step of the podium at the end of the day. 888 really needs to work out their stops as this isn't the first time Lownes has been held up.

Post a pic of what you are running please.

Haven't run it yet, hopefully Sat or next Wed night. 67 Camaro with 548 BBC 14/71. I'll post up a pic later in the week, once it's all together. (Still waiting on axles)

Going to be quite the learning curve as I've never driven a blown car...... Got any tips  ???

I'll post up another thread so as to not clog up this one.

Shane.
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

Yeah mate, if ya get outta da groove and lift, stay lifted. Getting on and off will give you a blower backfire nearly every time.

On the hit, just mash it. A second or so later, your grey matter will catch up with what your eyes are seeing and then drive the sucker straight down broadway.

If this is your first time with parachutes..... oh, you'll feel what i mean.

Once you've been blown, you''ll never go back to anything less.

Good luck.....

Went for a run on Wednesday. Trans brake solenoid failed so no reverse. Nerves got the better of me first run so that was a disaster. Second attempt was better, but still crap. Only a skid and a launch, then broke a rocker shaft bolt, so that ended that. Going to be a while before I get that skid under control I think....

Ah, that brings back memories....

Mate, this what i use to do....

As you leave the staging lanes, make sure its in top gear and NOT LOW. Once the back wheels have rolled the water trough, blip the throttle to about a 1/3 open and sail on out for a skid. In top gear, at just on 8,000 it would do a nice skid.

Stop, deep breath, select reverse and back we go.

Behind the start line, final check by crew, inch forward.... pre stage, keep breathing normal. so as not to fog the visor, start bringing the revs up......4,000, ease ever so gently into full stage.....

Last yellow, get the f@#* outta Dodge City..... :D

8,800 rpm, shift light, up shift..... 1,000 foot marker, hand on chute lever, finish line, put the laundry out, lift throttle, cut fuel supply, click neutral, shut down engine and start getting ready for the last turn off loop, around the corner, pull up.

Now, sit in the car in the shed, and go through the scenerio over and over and over.

It did it before i went for my blown license and did a 8:36 @ 159 mph for my license to given the nod.

Good luck, keep a cool head and go get 'em.

Only got as far as half track. Skated all the way to the 660' marker for a 5.59 @ 124 for the 1/8th. Rolled through to a 9.6 @ 98 for the 1/4. So it's signed off as an 1/8 mile car ;) Half way there......

Need to get that skid sorted better. Not enough heat in the tyres and I'm turning them straight off the line. I'll have another crack soon.

I was only thinking about you the other day.

Good on ya.

Now get back out there and give it hell.

Remember, rear tyres are evil and must be punished.
