Yep, was a great race.

"Win it or bin it", what a top quote. Reminded me of my drag racing days, when the car owner said....

Unless it's upside down or on fire, stay on the throttle.  :D Geez  i  miss those days...  :'(

Listening to Whingecup's interview after coming second on Saturday only confirmed my opinion of him.
He's a good driver in a great team, but that doesn't mean he's a nice bloke.......IMO......

Awesome finish, pity Reynolds couldn't get past.

Paul Dumbrell is now a Bathurst winner...  just goes to show how good those 888 cars are 8)

Safety car has sanitised it. It needs a change. Like 2 tyre options to mix it up or another 500km. Like the rest of the stumble cars. It's a procession. :). Maybe car of the future will mix it up.

Friend was a working photographer at the mountain. Took this pic of pole sitter will Davison. If anyone wants a ford pic! http://www.speedshots.com.au/images/2012b1k/2012_b1000_willdavison_wp.jpg

Bathurst, once again puts on the greatest show in the country  :cup:
Yeah sure, I'm disappointed that the other mob won, but hey what a great race.
The first lap to Griffins Cnr at the top of Mountain straight into the Cutting,  :cup:
Some of the camera shots from the helicopter were awesome, especially following the cars down the dipper from behind into Forrest's Elbow.
Win, loose or draw, ya gotta love Bathurst  ;D

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

That chopper was really spiced up the viewing almost as good as the slamcam on the ute race .  :cup: What else could you want 27 righthand mirrors 16 left hand 22 new bonets & the same in tailgates  :cup:

Reguardless what brand or team you support , that was a great race. I am a HRT supporter but I love the race more than any brand or team.
In true Holden/Ford style the drivers had me sitting on the edge of my lounge and my eyes glued to the telly.

Great day was had.

cheers duggie

The question is, will it be the same next year with Mercedes and Nissan??
Guy up the road from me has an AMG Merc, sounds better than most HSV Holdens i've heard drive by....

Awesome last 30 laps. I guess I follow Holden (not that I really like any new car - I just own an old Holden ;D) but not really fazed either way between the two brands in the V8's. But I thought the holden vs ford battle at the end was a fitting way to farewell the current format of V8 supercars before COTF next year. Couldnt have worked out any better if you asked me. Would have been great to see Reynolds get the pass during the last laps as I really didnt want to see another win from team vodaphone or FPR

I just wish it was a straight Holden v Ford or Ford v Holden and include Nissan and Mercedes next year, not a control vehicles with the different makes outer skin.  Unfortunately big business has taken over and it is no longer a true race of Holden v Ford.  Even the V8 Utes are becoming more and more a control vehicle with different outer panels.   For me while it was a good race in that it was very competitive, the who V8 Supercars has lost touch with it's origins.

Races like Bathurst used to be used by the vehicle makers as testing ground for what went into our vehicles that we drove, now with all the control parts, it is no longer a true Holden v Ford race at all, just a control vehicle with different panels.  To call the V8 Supercars a  Holden v Ford  competition is just BS.

Lowndes/Luff came in third about 8 seconds back - how much time did they lose having to queue behing Whincup/Dumbrell in the pits during safety car stops?

A greeat drive from Lowndes to the flag.

LOL and that view is from your one good eye!! ;D

Saturday they guy is disappointed that yet again the weather has played a hand in determining pole position. Drops of rain on your windscreen as you head up mountain straight is not the sort of thing to encourage a balls'n'all one lap qualifying flier... but after 2 sectors he was up! clearly JW is more than a good driver. The end result of that lap was JW showed the field he wasn't about to leave anything on the table. Sure he didn't get the no.1 spot but he gave it everything.
I'm glad JW & PD took the trophy as they were the class of the field all day... but I was equally cheering for Dave Reynolds to push hard to get the pass done, so long as it is clean, as I think he has a bright future ahead of him.
Sob story goes to Lowndes again, queueing in the pitlane cost him vital track position such that he may have been the guy pushing JW for the trophy. Arguably JW may have not fought as hard either and we may have seen some fantastic(if possibly contrived) history made.
I like to support racers, not badges.....usually. I have quite the conundrum next year, as I am not a big fan of the Kelly's.... but was once a diehard Nissan Fanatic until they were pushed out of the sport here.

Unfortunately, bad team management probably cost Lowndes the race.

Personally I think the race was won on Saturday.
Qualify Friday, top 10 go to race day, the rest of the losers on your trailer.
One shot at one lap = 1 winner and 9 losers. I don't see the sense in crossing the finish line 161 times to win a race.......

But then again I love drag racing, but not many others do ............ weirdo's.

Shane.
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

If you say so, Roo, but my one good eye sees a bloke that expects to win, and is completely without grace when he doesn't.
It doesn't contrast well against the attitudes of other drivers.

Just my opinion........

5 years ago I would have agreed with you, he used to be a bit of a peanut and cause a few broken fenders, but I reckon his driving has matured a lot over the past 3 years.  He used to be lucky to have the companys $$$$ behind him, but his drive yesterday (as a second driver) was as good and clean as Wincups. A great effort.

Dave Reynolds, what a great character and drive.

Would have been great for Caruso to hold on for a place.

Yep, Drag Racing, fastest 8 or 16 depending on the field, get to go racing, the rest can pack up and watch.

We use to run in Wild Bunch and Supercharged Outlaws back in the 90's an early 2000's.

This having big disc rotors and pads is for pussies, i pulled up with parachutes that the wife had packed for me, so i would nice to her on race day.

As for chasing that extra 10 or 20 horsepower, we use to just change the top pulley on the blower.

I'm hoping to have a car I just built on the track next week. Was going Outlaw 10.5 but don't think I will now. Politics. Trying to get some interest to bring Wild Bunch back to the Nostalgia series, but it's not looking promising. It was tried a few years back and had a LOT of support, but the organis........... I'll leave it at that.

yeah, politics always manages to raise its ugly head...

In the early 90's, we ran a street car in Super sedan running 10.6's with ease. Drive in, drive out deal too.

Lots of fun, very little politics and the same with the blown car, just run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough.

Post a pic of what you are running please.

you'll notice in the pic of the Ford, if the pic was taken a nano second later, it would've got the left rear getting lift off as well.

from memory, i used up a lot of the track that day, but hey, anyone can go straight.

Like i posted earlier, the instruction were, unless its upside down or on fire, don't lift.

Ya gotta love a good dose of stab and steer though.  ;D

Those last 5 or 6 laps with Lowndes moving from 5th to a podium finish proves he is the class of he field. I am a ford fan and was surrounded by the red army and when I suggested to them that Lowndes would make third they doubted it, however knowing how he peddles under pressure it was a formality, no way was he going to settle for 5th.

I support ford but have always supported and had great respect for Lowndes, he is a champion on and off the track. We were standing at the finish line it was an awesome end to a great race.
