My most useless camping gradget was one of those round BBQ plates.

The single ring of jets combined with the corrugated surface ensured that anything placed on it would burn in the middle and remain raw on ther outside and they are impossible to clean. And try cooking a fried egg on the flamin' things  >:D

I think alot of us have those friends( and FAMILY) who come camping with you, and because you have the camper trailer think you have it all under control so dont offer to do a thing, and just watch you do everything, have to agree would love just once to be able to sit on my arse and watch others do everything, but pigs will fly first.
After reading this post I thought it was just me whinging about doing all the set up! Now I realise all that theropy was a waist of time ;D

Not quite, a molten marsmallow on fire to the lip is much hotter than heated tomato

It's a known fact that heated tomato is the only substance in the universe hotter than the sun, and also that it retains more heat than the concrete barrier around Chernobyl.

There is an underground movement working on using heated tomatoes to replace coal fired power stations.

Close, but the take away coffee from Orbost was still unbearably hot over an hour after purchase

What's wrong with an egg carton.?

Its not like in Sri Lanka when we were buying eggs in a bag, filled with straw.
Double up if extra packing required.

Can use the egg cartons to block our the neighbors snoring after you've finished with it.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

X 2 ... if you need to ... start your fire with the empty carton ... line your broken box with an egg carton ... stop things from making the darm squeeky noise with an egg carton ... line something to show the thermal properties of an egg carton ...whack your partner on the head with an egg carton if you don't have the inner cardboard from Xmas wrapping ...  line your drop loo bag with an egg carton ...  we have mentioned carrying eggs with them right?

Egg Cartons ARE NOT USELESS camping gadgets.

I'll bet someone can come up with a few more uses for them.

I like my yellow plastic egg holders. Way more resilient when being pulled in and out of the fridge.  Handy little handle and I swear it takes less space. Only had one prebroken egg.  After that I stuffed  little bits of paper towel between the eggs for rough trips, and no worries.

I actually bought a second one for long trips, since I can't do without my eggs for brekky.

Vive la difference.

The most useless camping gadget i have ever used is those solar camp showers.

Dont get me wrong they could probably be a good gadget to someone but not me. I bought a coleman expecting it to be top quality mind you it did cost me about $20 but when you half fill it and then hang it up somewhere the bloody handle rips off and next minute your standing outside your shower starkers trying to fix the bloody thing, Probably isnt the best gadget i have ever used.

Hence the reason i have gone back to using our primus 12volt shower and comes packaged in its own little lunch box.
If you never go, you'll never know

I think we need to simplify this.:

Solar shower bags.
Plastic egg holders.
mesh toasters.
ribbed round BBQ plates.
fridge stands.
Pommie mates.
12v kettle.
12v hair dryer.
air mattress.
roast holding prongs.
Lazy friends.
Stovetop coffee makers.
lazy teenagers.
wind up lights.
collapsible pantries.
My own fishing gear.
weather forecasters.
sporks.
cheap air compressor.

Basically to sum it up so far..........................

How much could we have saved by reading this thread first.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....
