Good Job BJ, I miss out on alot of things my friends post or topics that are relevant to me because of alot of political policies etc and local news stories threads that seem to fill up the unread posts since last visit pages, so I tend to flick through then click on mark as read.
I know everyone is different but all I want from the forum is to keep track of peoples rigs and camper mods and places people are camping or driving as well as technical help from people who have experienced the same problems I may be having. There are plenty of talk back radio programs and I am pretty sure in this day and age there is a forum for anything imaginable on the net now to have your say on particular topics.
Just my 2 cents worth Thanks Mods

Laith

Well said Brad.

When is a camper trailer forum not a camper trailer forum.

Well done BJ,
I believe Snow is correct in what he says.
We often all forget that if you dont like what is on, change channels, turn it off or whatever, I like to call it the power of the finger, use it to press the button.
No one forces anyone to watch, read or even listen to the dribble that occurs.
In my opinion, politics and camping, YEH........ NUH
It is in my blood to modify

I agree completely Jules.

Thank you.

As posted in my very first intro thread, its great to be a part of a bunch of liked minded people who look after one another and show respect. I'm not saying every one needs to fit the same mould, far from it, but it's nice to escape the hassles of the day and immerse yourself in thoughts about going bush.

Hard choice... ban all political talk or non of it.  Otherwise YOU must choose and then someone will complain about Freedom Of Speech.  Hmm.... isn't that why I no longer live in a communist country, Freedom Of Speech.

;)

I will be honest, I do find them an interesting read. I'm not sure about a blanket ban as we should be free to discuss issues freely but within the rules. Yes, I have closed some political threads due to a few people getting a little too passionate. To me, what make this forum great is the general mutual respect everyone has and the freedom to discuss issues close to our heart. If we draw the bow at politics, where does it stop? I see many not like these threads and that is fine, why not just not read these threads if you don't like them?Nobody is forced to read them.....This is my view anyway......:-)

If you don't like a thread, then don't read it.
Seems Censorship's alive and well, thanks to the power of the silent minority.
Must add this thread is pretty political by it's own nature,
and started by those that appose politics. ROFPML

Unfortunately, another win for "political correctness of the silent majority". Without going into details ( for fear of the wrath of the adjudicators ) this is just another example of how stuffed up our society has become due to the actions of a vocal element of the community who feel that it is their right to speak for the rest of us who didn't even ask for their opinion in the first place. >:( :-[ >:D
Rant over.

I'm not so good with advice... can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

Do you mean we have Greens voters on myswag?

I am happy to roll with the punches. Not fussed either way. For my thinking, there are more important things to worry about than whether it should be banned or not.

I may have it wrong, but I thought the reason the threads were chopped had nothing to do with freedom of speech, or if you don't like it don't read it etc, but the tone of the comments and disrespect for other members' opinions was not in the best (or any other form of) interests of the forum and its members.

It was getting ugly.

I used to come here for the friendly banter about camping, Nissan v Toyota v everything else and to organize camping outings to meet/keep in touch with some great, easy to get along with people from this forum.

I have made some great friends from meetups organized on this forum. I feel like I have gained a lot from being an active member.

It's a shame that most on here prefer to bicker and carry on more than go camping and share good company.

There is no "those". It was my decision, based on feedback I'd received from members and earlier discussions about the preferred direction of the forum. There are other forums if you feel over moderated here. And mate, it's not censorship, it's moderation.
