Folks, we're always reluctant to moderate too much on here, but the number of political threads has grown and many members are reporting these. I have removed all the recent threads, not based on any particular content or comment, just because it's bringing the tone down too much.

Facebook (not the myswag page) is a great place to air your discontent, and have others commiserate or commentate.

To those who started them or posted in them, please don't feel aggrieved, try one on trips or tyres or tracks  >:D  ;D, or something about camping. Any hassles, please feel free to PM me or any of the mod team.

happy camping

good stuff jules, lets remember its an off road camper trailer forum

I think it would be hard to disagree with the decision and comments. It can be difficult not to air your grievances when you are totally 'annoyed' :police: about things that affect you.

Must remember never to get a Facebook logon  >:D.  Shouldn't be hard.

Nice to see one of the other 'no go' topics hasn't been raised.

Keep up the good work folks. This has to be one of the best forums going! Because ..... You keep it 'clean'.

No one need apologise, and hopefully no one is offended. It wasn't an action against anyone.

Hi BigJules,

There is enough political rubbish in other media, I am pleased to have a political free MySwag.

Tas, that has never been true of MySwag. As I said in my first post, the mod team are always reluctant to moderate threads, but we have always tried to maintain a focus on camping, with your camper trailer, 4wding, family friends. There has been many discussions, on the boards and in private about the merits of some of the GD threads and whether they add anything to the forum itself. I believe that the mod team understand absolutely the passion members have for the place, and a natural desire to talk about everything that concerns them with the folks they enjoy spending time with, but we took a decision ages ago to attempt to keep really difficult subjects to a minimum.

For sure you can search now and probably find half a dozen or more threads with even less value to the forum, but this is how it is. With no disrespect intended towards our fellows on another major 4wd forum, theirs has mostly devolved into discussions other than that which brought them together in the first place.

Now around a fire of course, it's game on.

Cheers

Great idea Jules. The pollies talk about themselves enough so don't see why should encourage them.
Often wonder why the 2nd big topic isn't heard much around here, yes you know that religion one.
Well I have my religion and it comes in 375ml bottles. (or sometimes aluminium where it is POLITICALLY incorrect to take glass.)
I suppose the 3rd great topic has just been won by QUEENSLAND again.

Can well understand your decision ..... It's a sad comment on the standard of political debate generally ... we get the political leaders that we deserve methinks ....   Its a fun job being a mod hey  :D

I will be honest, I do find them an interesting read. I'm not sure about a blanket ban as we should be free to discuss issues freely but within the rules. Yes, I have closed some political threads due to a few people getting a little too passionate. To me, what make this forum great is the general mutual respect everyone has and the freedom to discuss issues close to our heart. If we draw the bow at politics, where does it stop? I see many not like these threads and that is fine, why not just not read these threads if you don't like them?Nobody is forced to read them.....This is my view anyway......:-)

I'm always happy to see healthy discussion reign as long as the language is civil and there is no eye poking. Remember to always sort out the log in your own eye before picking the splinters out of someones elses.

That is how we Swaggers should roll.
