Collins Hut - vandalized for last time. maybe not

It is reassuring to know that there are passionate people like Mr Lost who are visiting and keeping these huts and alpine areas active and used. I'm a ski/snow-addict, and am hoping that when the kids are a bit bigger we will haul the 4WD and CT down there from Qld and instead of staying on-snow in a resort one winter, we'll do something different and get to these places when accessible and enjoy what is a stunning and isolated part of the country. My wife used to go to Thredbo during summer as a kid. It'd be great if we can get up there to see more of what she has enjoyed and remembers.

The only way that we will be able to visit these places one day is because of the work and personal interests of the likes of Lost, so thank you good Sir.

Pretty sure there's a Spargo's Hut in the fields at Hotham. Must get there for a ski one winter.

This makes me furious. What low lives, some people just have no respect and quite frankley nothing better to do with their time. These kids I can guarantee you are repeat offernders and their parents would not give two sh*ts! I am only 23 but I can guarantee you myself or none of my friends never did anything like this, we were brought up with manners and to respect life and everything you were given and if not you would be in trouble. Its the same old story, they will never be caught or get off with a slap on the wrist.

Probably not a fair judgement in your comment Mel87 item # 1 ... more the point "ferrals" of other races are more known to do this type of damage away from home unfortunately.

Well, theres a working bee on this weekend, hoping a few club members are heading out there. not sure how it will end up, hopefully it wont get booted again, but theres more asshats than humans it appears out there these days.. but while we get the stuff to fix it, we will attempt to.

Suprisingly and disappointingly I learnt tonight that the Victorian Huts Association has lost Government Funding

Thats Shitful I think.

I had a call from Chris in my club, who is in the Huts Association, and apparently Collins Hut its been smashed up again... They wont keep throwing money at these huts

Also the Hut on Mt Terrible, the Huts association had been up there recently rebuilding it ~2-4 weeks ago did a ton of work on it...

They went on up on weekend, its been smashed up again too.

You just have to wonder what goes through these alcohol filled brainless idiots, if they want a house to knock over I can supply several, it would save the company thousands in costs for demolition guys.

This sort of thing will just get more areas locked up with no access for the majority that does the right thing

As far as I know, the Huts Association lost their Gov funding in the belt tightening thats gone on...

Maybe Chris (who is on the board here) or if theres anyone from the Huts here could expand if that was changed... If their budgets are that low, they will only be able to pick and choose 1 or 2 to keep going

It would be good to put some of those surveilance cameras in that councils and that use to catch illegal dumpers. The ones that operate night and day to catch the scum that do this.

This has been mentioned in our call, but nothign ever seems to happen to people who get caught in the bush... So why bother

In years gone by, I have sent youtube clips and still photos of car rego's to 4wd Vic and our Parks Vic contact before, posted info on 4wd Vic site, and once I heard they went through with it all - and the outcome was "a stern talking to"...

Been to their houses and they are all dumps! Of course housing commission homes where tax payers pay for the damage. Did anyone take the empty bottles to the coppers for prints? They are the best for prints.
Lost, if we can get any sort of evidence i.e. clear photos of offenders, rego on vehicles, prints, I will try and follow it up. Photos of offenders get put up on our keep a lookout for (kalof) circulars. Cheers.
