For those that went away camping over easter, does anyone have any pics of their campsites? I'm keen to see how busy some places were ;)

This is one of the 2 places I camped at. There were only 5 camps here and it was about 15km from Mansfield.

I stayed at Rubicon which was busier. I also dropped into StringyBark creek and the Kelly Tree. There were around 10 camps there but a truckload of troom.

Myall river camp.
Seriously packed. Caretaker said he had never seen it as busy as Easter Saturday. Still we managed to find a big enough area out of the way, about 15 metres to the next tent.

One bloke had a big diesel Ford F250 crew cab ute. I was going to ask him for his exhaust pipes to store my tent poles in. ;D
He had a bit of trouble getting around the place in the big Effie.
I got a sweater for Xmas, really wanted a moaner or screamer.

P.S.  SavannahKelpy ... did a stink up on the Tablelands.  Used to work in the Star Cafe in Atherton when I was about 11 (yes so many, many years ago) and I attended the ASHS and the Yungaburra SS (lived out there for awhile) and did a stint to the Cape with the Yungabura Publican at the time.  Loved the skating rink at Mareeba too.  Still got some good mates up that way!

Some friends and I from work camped near "Mountain Dam" camp ground at Rocklands in Victoria. A man made water storage near the Grampians. Moc and I went on Thursday and the girls arrived on Friday, because of this it was renamed "Brokeback Mountain Dam". Took the tinnie and lots of bait but alas no fish. I thought I should take some pics before I packed up camp on Monday. A beautiful sheltered spot, but where we camped would normally be under water as the reserve is only 49% full, much better that 3% this time last year. The first couple of pics are near the water and sunset over the Gramps in the background. The third is a view from our Tambo. The last is a pic from in front of our camper looking toward the water with the Grampians in the background.

Cheers rastus

Big Crystal Creek, Paluma Range Nation Park. Campsite was overflowing Full report here http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=746.msg194047#msg194047 but these couple of photos show how close our neighbours were. The ones next to us with the red Pajero decided to have a domestic argument on the first night from about 9pm to 1am. Great stuff when they are only a few metres from where you're trying to sleep. :-[ Fortunately the campsite emptied significantly each day so after a couple of days it was a lot quieter.

We also would go back but not a on a long weekend.

Earle, thats why I dont go anywhere on long weekends I allways used to get neighbours who thought they where the only ones there and stuff everyone else.

Hey Savanahkelpy,

That pretty much sums up our experience of the place too, I'm afraid. The gorge itself is breathtaking, but the camping is pretty poor (especially considering how much land the station has to work with). We went in a long weekend last year, and this is what it was like:

That was around midday, it got considerably worse as the afternoon unfolded and people continued to stream in. There were people camped in the driveways, big (inconsiderate) groups setting up camp encircling other people's existing tents, just people squeezed in everywhere. I can't imagine how packed it must have been at Easter - sardines in a tin come to mind. Which is a shame, because the amenities block has got to be one of the flashiest I've ever had the privilege of using  ;D

We spent the weekend up at Pinnacle Village, and while there were a lot of people there, it certainly wasn't what I'd call "packed". I was pleasantly surprised. They've got a lot of land - I'll happily go back. Piccies to come.

Thanks!
Matto :)

Listening to it and being kept awake was annoying but the thing that pees me of the most was that their kids were in a tent right next to them, and at least one was awake listening to them. The kid was obviously upset by it so they started having a go at the kid. Borders on child-abuse.  >:( >:(
