what sort of forums do the UN run? i'm intrigued...

I joined in Feb 09 and only made one post, its only in the last couple of weeks that I have become more 'active'

i think a lot of people are using the site to lurk and learn. there's no real point in forcing people to post just to keep themselves active, surely that just leads to padding posts?

I couldn't agree more.
I've been a member on a few different boards over the yr's, mostly to learn about whatever situation took me there searching. I wasn't interested in becoming 1 of their 'family', just the info to keep me moving forward.
I believe forums are about the quailty of the ppl & the info they give so freely...never about the quantity of the membership.

It's also unfortunate that I see so many boards these days require you to register before you get to see if the site is even useful to you

An innocent question for you. Does it cost any more to have a stack of inactive visitors/drones/whatever/ on this site?
My Swag is such a friendly site, very little friction (electrical aside and some blow ins from ExPlorOz) - yes I am a member there too.
I really find it irritating to be reminded I have not regularly contributed to some sites (Aus Photography for one) or have not logged in, eg LCOOL, to see what cruisers are for sale (don't tell the Minister for War)

I think Bushman was the first to post on the forum.

There may be more active members than the actual count - ie partners using the same login because the forum won't recognise two user ids on the same IP address.

Mr yoda was the first to find this place, but Mrs yoda has gatecrashed and outposted him by a long shot!
