How odd, im currently going through this exact thing with my father at the minute, fell off ladder, brain bleed, 2 weeks in ICU, out to head injury ward yesterday.... I don't know Hutchie, but i hope he gets better, as i am certainly aware of the family's pain.

Yep same story in our family.
BIL fell from a ladder, hit head on the kitchen bench on the way down and although still with us  it changed and impacted the whole family.
So pack the ladders away

It just seems to common
Approx 6 weeks ago workmate was getting something out of the passenger side of a bogie tipper
Fell off the step and landed on his head.
Induced coma then tried to bring him slowly out of it.
Lasted another few weeks and passed away.
So many people affected from his family, the boys on the site that were present and the whole company
It's so hard to express the feelings
RIP Baz
Sorry if this is out of line with the thread but very few things in life have affected me like this

My wife used to work in the emergency department always commented to me the number of older gentlemen falling off ladders or roofs. Not sure if its the "I'll be right" attitude, just unlucky or don't have the reflexes/speed like they used to.
Be very careful out there guys, if you're not sure if you can reach - don't. I work on ladders every day and I am super cautious of my ladder position, how slippery the ground is, will I have to reach across too far etc etc. Every now and then I'll start over reaching then suddenly stop myself and have the same conversation - "but it's only another 100mm away? Don't be lazy and move the ladder you dumb Shit."

Hi,
    Older gentlemen falling off ladders?
Good thing I'm more of an old fart than a gentleman.
Cheers

G'day all, I've been visiting Hutchy weekly now for a little while. He is improving each time I see him, He will have challenges for the rest fo his life but the people that know him know he is a fighter and to get to where he is today is honestly a miracle. I just spend time with him, and talk plenty of Shit, remind him of stuff we have done together and I talk alot about Myswag and all you funny charatcters that know him. Ocassionally I get a that cheekly Hutchy smile. Last visit he basically rolled his eyes to say fark Swannie is here again talking Shit for hrs at a time:).  He mayl never be the hutchy that many know him as physically, but inside he is still is every bit the bloke we know. I reminded him of when i first met him at the Tolmie Ned Kelly weekend and how he got me in abit of trouble  with the wife, gave him a bit of a chuckle. I'll contiue to visit him and keep tellimg him the people of Myswag are asking about him. Wendy is doing it tough, basically hasn't been home since the accident and spends every day, all day sitting in the hospital with him. The Wife and I coaxed her out for a bite last weekend for an hour, which she appreciated. I've promised Hutchy as soon as he can I'll get him out of the hospital and down to the pub, even if i gotta carry him!

Still in hospital, making little steps. He can stand but not walk yet. Might go home in 8 weeks but that could blow out.

Hi all, sorry for my not so regular updates. Hutchy condition hasn't really changed and most likely wont have much improvement going forward.
Plans are underway to try and get him
Home before xmas.
I visit him regulary and just  chat to him mostly about camping and cars. Wendy has been with him by his side everyday
