Saw mention yesterday concerning Nanotubes.

They're usually made out of carbon, & so are referred to as CNTs, as C is the designation for carbon.

Chinese researchers have been experimenting with making them out of copper, rather than carbon, so to differentiate from CNTs, they've decided to stick with the chemical designation for copper: Cu

The main attraction of the baskets is you can pack them up in the house and carry them out to the car in one trip.
Plus the smaller basket keeps more fragile things like eggs separate up on the shelf away from any rogue beer cans

But I like the burning idea - sounds quicker than the wire brush

Thanks guys. We're still investigating this. Plenty of storage is a common issue with both forward fold and rear fold camper trailers. A lot positive is to be said for the good storage volume in the older style side-fold soft-floor campers. But we know how things have progressed with the search for the perfect camper trailer when people want all the conveniences of home.

It may sound environmentally unfriendly, but I would burn the plastic off in a cool fire, wire-brush or rust treat it and then get it powder-coated. Or if I was totally honest, I'd be asking, "do I really need to have everything in a basket?' Plenty of things go in home fridges and freezers not in a basket.  

There us a plethora of wire basket manufacturers who will, for  a price, make you a new one.

Costly but may be a better option.

like.. get a (soft ish) wire wheel for your drill and clean the loose plastic off it.

then Raptor it.

You used to be able to get "plastic spray" to cover stuff like that. (I remember the ad where they sprayed a strainer basket, then were able to hold water in it!)

Have a look around for a place that does plastic dipping. They could probably remove (melt) the old coating off and replace it.
