Camper Trailer water fittings

Has anyone replaced their camper trailers snap on Nitto style water fittings with anything else? If so what?

The female coupler on mine always gets full of dust and makes it hard to use, I thought abbot swapping the female for the male however I then loose the security of the check valve in the female coupling..

What about a rubber "foot" off a walking stick type thing I had one on my gas fitting worked for me... just a thought.

mine does have a rubber cap that goes over the coupling, this keeps the dust out of the inside of the coupling however as my fittings are located at the bottom of the trailer the dust gets in behind the coupling where the locking collar slides back and binds up. ( hope that makes sense?)

Pop a rubber chair leg stopper over the top, stops dust and insect ingress.

Maybe a velcro canvas dust cover that just wraps around to try and keep some of the dust out??  Or maybe an aluminium deflector type thing??

What about a hydraulic style coupler  where the male end is sealed ?

I tried Nitto fittings for quick connect of my hot water system but found they rusted so switch to some brass ones.  I just use the opposite gender connector with a 1/4  BSB Cap to seal them off.

Yes a simple fix would be swapping the female and male couplings around..

I did think of these as well, I am in the Hydraulic game and have managed to find myself in the possession of a couple of potential fittings

    Double ended male fitting soldered shut on one end should do it.

Spare hose snap on fitting, couple inches of garden hose, one zip tie.  Done.

Simply fold over the hose and zip tie down ie. bend the hose over on itself and zip tie it there.

Dust and insect proof.  I do this in the garden.  Never had issues.

Or pump some silicon into the open end

    I have closed hose ends by heating them to the point of near melting and then clamping them shut in a vice.
