I was under the impression that no campfire were allowed on the Island, but a couple of recent reports I have read on other forums seems to say otherwise, even as recent as easter this year.

So the question for those that have previously visited the Island is what is the go with campfires?

That's a good point  ??? , I was thinking we might take the ''KING COBB'' in case there's a fire ban, then we can still cook a camp oven roast or two on the table in camp. hopefully we can have a fire as it gives us drunks some where to sleep when kicked out of the camper for the nite  ;D

We are taking our Baby Cobb for a couple of nights roasts and a yummy chocolate birthday cake.

Came up with this great idea that if we take enough bags of heat beads we can sit around the unlidded cobb each night with the heat beads burning away.  Could even cook marshmallows on them.  ???

SteveandViv

if you are allowed fires you must take your own wood or fuel as well. You are not allowed to fossic for wood and the rangers were quite strict about that. We took a few boxes of those heat logs which work well to cook with and also give out a bit of heat to sit around...

We might have to circle the little COBBs around the "King Cobb" and see how we go, you would certainly be able to toast marshmellows over one.

that or wrap some red and orange cellophane around a lantern and pretend :'( at least that way when I drink too much and fall into the fire I wont burn myself ::)

Glen - I have a custom made 9kg "Big Cobb" if you want to take with you - you would be more than welcome.  Fits 10 lamb shanks at once :)

jk

If other people need to cook camp ovens they are welcome to use the ''KING COBB'' just make sure you bring a small supply of heat beads, we can run it non stop if need be. It's all good.

I'm thinking there could be a big communal roast night with toasted marshmallows afterwards.  :cup:

I was there at Easter.
Dilli village for some reason was able to have camp fires- outside NP boundaries.

They have 6 fire rings that are not allowed to be moved.

Still nothing nicer than a campfire- had it lit every night.

When we went in Sept 06 there were no fires allowed.  There was even a ranger who came and told us to get rid of our 'pretend fire', cellophane over a lantern.
