For those who use Firefox, there was an update other day that knocked lots of stuff out (Containers, AdBlockers and other add-ons)

There's now a fix out:
https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2019/05/04/update-regarding-add-ons-in-firefox/

Really easy, took about 5 minutes to return to normal service (ad free and all add-ons back to working)

You're lucky.  I've applied the fix and I'm still down.  Lots of other users in the same boat too.  Talk about an epic cockup by mozilla!!!

If you dont restart or shut down your pc this will help about:debugging and tell it to allow extenstions via there tho it should be loading via the hotfix.

I run 56.02 for various reasons so the official fixes don't work at least  in my experience.  Fix is here https://www.velvetbug.com/benb/icfix/
