Through some quirk of timing I never got to see any of his documentaries, but being laid up for a few days I am catching up. We think we are pretty good driving the outback tracks in fully kitted 4WDs, but this guy did it in ratty old Sigmas with dodgy looking suspension, 35 years ago. Top effort mate, and taught me a few things I didn't know. Search YouTube.
Tvan + Terracan
Hilux Adventure Camper
1999 Outback Sturt - an oldie but a goodie. Updated of course (passed on within family)

I visited his art gallery in Broken Hill and spent a few hours with him talking about his adventures over the years. Great bloke and a great artist as well. I did lash out on some of his art work and he did autograph a copy of his book. Worth a visit if you are ever in Broken Hill.
Cheers

He is a great bushman and character.

Funny about the sigma a lot of those older RWD cars were capable but jeez they paid a price. I had a 1990s skyline wagon I took over the back high country roads and although it made it , it had about a thousand more rattles until the day I passed it on.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

35 years ago I was watching old grainy jack/reg movies. They've been around a while.

He is like an iceberg , what you can't see is actually really interesting , he has certainly lived a life and given it a red hot go .
