Disclaimer: I am your average fishing person.

If people are considering doing some fishing on the trip I would suggest a basic rod and reel set up with 30lb line.

Various hooks and sinkers, metal traces and regarding fishing lures a small range from kmart or Big W.

I have collected a heap of gear over the years and will take that with me.

Also some plastic pipe about 500mm long for using in sand to sit your rod in.

Below is some gear I use.

We will top up the fishing gear, if needed, in Broome before we head to Cape Leveque where there is ample opportunity to fish.

l could throw all that kit out in the water & still couldn't catch a fish if it had a handle on its back .                                 :cup:
You can go your own way . Treg Up & Make Dust

And don't forget you need  a WA fishing licences if using a boat and bag limits and other restrictions apply.

Mark if you have 12 lures in your tackle box 10 of them would need to need to be gold bombers. The other a deep dive and the last one an even deeper deep diver.

I was too ashamed to show all lures. People may think I have a fishing problem.

Agree Chris I have plenty of the bombers.

For the life of me I can not put a photo up but I have worked as a pro fishing guide for most of the last 20years and for Barra my no1 go to lure for casting into timber and gutter mouths is a "Transam" soft plastic with twin trebles. This lure is only 95mm long and 20g in weight but the wife and I have landed literally thousands of Barra on them. They are no good for trolling. Last week we were tossing lures around some timber and I landed a huge Barra of 1.3mts. 60lb of wild salt water Fish.
If someone would like me to email them the photo of the fish and lure to post up I would be more than happy.

I don't fish.  I'm willing to give it a try.  I don't want to spend much money.

What should I buy?   ( or should I just pass to avoid frustration?)

Thanks for that b1. Hope you enjoyed. We have taken a few fish over 1mt with these lures.

Maybe this should be in the fishing section?

Thanks for the tip, I've ordered some on Ebay.

Reckon its more likely to end up in the back of my head than in a fishes mouth though ;D
