I'm not on there, it seems that I miss out on a few gatherings because if it haha!!!

Oh well, the missus checks hers each day, any important stuff she will pass on. Would rather be in the shed tinkering....

Not sure why anyone would want to post all their livelihood on there, who give's a crap?

I use it and not ashamed to admit it.

Why?? Started while I was caring for my wife as it was an easy way to communicate with family and her friends on her page, after she passed I thought I would not use it anymore but find it a good tool. 

It is the easiest way I can gain access to groups of people who like or specialise in rocking horses. (Sounds a bit like Myswag hey) These groups are closed so only people who are members can post & see what is posted.

For example today I got some rabbit skin glue & was able to ask about ratios for water & whiting to make traditional gesso.

There is a lot of good info on there on some of the open groups such as free camping sites.

The kids think it is great to send me messages as I don't carry a mobile unless I specifically need it & no phone in the shed.

I also keep contact with some old army mates & see any info on upcoming reunions.

As for all the dribble it is easy to stop seeing that, I have blocked rellies who put rubbish up.

It is a good advertising tool for events such as the Lost Trades Fair.

What is not to like or are you secret users & in denial to avoid the ribbing from the mates down at the pub

It can definitely be used for good, I just see no reason to post all your personal information for all to see which seems all to common.

For me it's not about what you or your 'friends' post. It's about what the business takes from all it's users.

I'm happy to wear my tin foil hat on this one.
Every experiment needs a control specimen.
And those of us that have made the choice not to hand over all of our details and data to this business and all of their advertisers and who ever else they want to sell your details to are the control subjects in this massive global multi billion dollar social experiment.

If it was just about keeping touch with friends and family and groups like Raym has said, that would be fantastic.
The reality is there is much more happening in the software code then just letting you say Hi to a friend....

Now if you'll excuse me I have to put my phone back in the microwave....

Like all social media, it's as good as you want it to be.

People in this group, sorry to say, are part of social media.

Also I can find out what my kids are up to as they only talk to me on social media

I was a detractor until I joined. I'm not that active, with only the occasional personal post. The main thing I found is that most organisations will update facebook and advertise new stuff on it rather than post it on their web site. I have connected with many companies that I would never have due to a crap or non existent web site. You can keep your private stuff private, you just need to wind your privacy settings up. Don't knock it until you have tried it.

Not on it but wife is and she finds it great when we are travelling to keep connected with family.  Don't think I will join as it does not appeal to me.  But I only got my own mobile phone last year after resisting the need, but I still hate carrying it and being contactable, unless for a urgent reason.  Just love the feeling when on the road and out of range for anything.    Kevin

Yeah I'm not on it, tried it a few times but cant get my head around it. Dont miss it apart from not going on any of the local Myswag trips anymore, that's a bit of a bummer

I'm on it.
It's how I keep track of family in the US and friends living in other Parts of Australia.
And there are a few closed groups that I'm on.
Swmbo uses it to keep track of family and friends in the UK.
As far as friends on my Facebook go if I don't personally know them then they are not on my Facebook. I don't do that friends of friends crap.

Same with my wife.
I'm the opposite with the phone though. Lost mine on 24th July, haven't replaced it, found I haven't 100% needed it for anything (although it would have been handy once or twice) and I'm not looking at replacing it. Life goes on without it quite pleasantly

yep, life goes on fine for some of us that don't need or want certain things others wouldn't be without...like I said earlier, my wife is on it and that's good enough for me, there is no need for me to be on it, I have no family or friends overseas, and if I want to talk to someone I'll pick up my phone and call them. I have my social media fix via a couple of forums I'm on and that's good enough for me.
It's pretty amusing how people that love it think people not on it need to be on it also, like we are missing out on something because they enjoy / like it. I get that it has it uses, I just don't want to be on it because I don't need it, it's that simple.

The biggest issue I have is the ignorance of people who do have it that think the world has it... Certain people who LIVE on stalkerbook (the kind of people who discuss their train trip to work and their train trip home on it daily) in our club have now gone to arranging trips on it, which means that numerous of us in our club that DONT have any interest don't find out about trips.

This thread was started because on a radio interview of people that don't facebook . Some were astounded that this is in anyway possible . They are the electronic /online sheep trying to keep up with the world as perceived .
As an offline trend setter of the old school  l really cant see the point . lf l miss camps then its not my problem .
