Hi guys

No i am a city slicker i am looking for some new wheels and am thinking of going a different way for a bit more poke around town

Does anyone have any experiences with Hiluxes with the V6 engine i know it will use more fuel but i am just punting around the city these days and my camping is only involving long weekends or a week away or even if i do a longer trip it will be a mere fraction of the normal driving this vehicle will do.

The complexities of modern diesels concerns me so i thought this may be a different way to go

Is there any major differences in the V6 engine between the older shape and the new ones???

I have a V6 120 series Prado. If you are looking at the 4.0L V6 these are a great engine, but thirsty when pushed. Very reliable with reports of trouble free 500k + km's. But make sure it has had as a minimum the scheduled servicing completed.

Trd all the way.

The wife had the 2005 SR single cab 4x4 V6.
Went like a gun, very easy to drive and quite. Best part to no flat spots,  put your foot down an its all power.
Fuel was standard from what I can remember. They are a good engines, haven't any issues. Good size motor 4L for a V6.
Life's wasn't meant to be fair.
Well so I've been told. ..

had one for work few years ago. great powerful donk but fuel use was ridiculous. 250-300km out of a 65 litre tank. that was carrying about 400kg of tools and drawer system etc. did break 3 rear diffs though... cheers
